ok since prolly no one is goin to reply to my question in the gain settin tutorial thread, i figured i would repost here.................. ok i am goin to my friends house in about 25 minutes and i will be hooking up my dual 4 ohm T9500 up to one of his amps that he says puts out 1200w at 4 ohms, but it is not 2-ohm stable, so i will be hooking it up into a 8 ohm operation, and i want 800 watts goin to it, so would it be sqrt(800*8)=6400= 40 V is this correct????

Well you can want 800watts and I can want 2.5kW, doesnt mean you are going to get it. Is the amp rated at 800w@8ohms??

lol, srry no, it is rated at 1200 watts at 4 ohm, but im sure it puts out around 900 at 4 ohms, but i need to run the sub at 8 ohms, because the amp is not 2 ohm stable

OK, so you will most likely get around 400w from the amp if it only puts out 900 @ 4ohms.

so i would guess that it prolly is around 500 @ 8 ohm, it is 2 channel amp, so could i hook it up 1 voice coil per channel????? (prolly not), cus then it would running 4 ohms but i dont think that its safe doin that......

Always trying to get that extra 100 or so watts out of what you want? Dam n! 400 not 500 watts. And no you don't want to use only one coil.

Yes, you could hook up one coil per channel. However, it would be rather pointless as you would get the exact same results by running it 8ohm bridged.
