First time taking sub apart, don't know symptoms.. pics

I just took this thing apart... I guess evidentally the spider was completely torn apart all the way around, and the V.C. tinsels were completely disconnected... I wonder which one happened first?? Also, is that mark on the V.C a burn mark??

How does the spider tear that bad, and the V.C. doesnt come all apart?





And here is a pic of the stripped out big ole' screws in the motor that I can't get out... YET (any point in saving a motor like this????)

aaaaahah!! ahhh well... SUcks just cause I put them in a new, higher tuned box, and I didnt change the tuning on my amp, so they tried to drop down low like the other box..../story

wish I could get this dam motor out.

even after u get the screws out the plate is glued to the basket and its hard to get off.

the amp was tuned for the box I had tuned to 32hz... this one was about 38Hz.. tuned for 32Hz... I dunno if that is a big difference or not

hammer & a sharp chisel and tap the screw out. I "assume" an impact screwdriver is your best friend for taking them out and not stripping them...

yea, that looks like exactly what happened..... but I SWEAR both of them still worked when I took em outta my car.....realllly confused

sears sells a nice kit to get the stripped screws out it works excellent and I think its $20 for the kit.

Get a dremel with a cut off wheel and grind a line the whole way across the screw and then use a flathead screwdriver to get it out.. Just make sure to cover the motor really good so u dont get shavings in the gap

is there really enough interest in a type-r motor to justify spending time to get it off?? if so i got 1 i may need to take apart.
