First time building box

Hey guys, i just ordered a SE 10" from REAUDIO last friday and since there's no boxes for them, i decided to give it a shot and make my own. Had mdf lying around so i started working today. Got all the measurments right for a 1.25 CF tuned at 35 Hz, and started cutting. That took about 2 hours. Then started to glue/drill screws in and that took another 2 hours. I'm almost done, just need to cut the hole tomorrow and glue that piece in, and carpet it then i'm done. Let me know what u guys think, and if there's any helpful tips/advice, i would really appreciate it!

probably just black/grey trunk carpet, do you have any recommendations for me? btw, where would i go purchase that?

I didn't buy terminals for the box, i'm just going to drill the hole thru the box and slip it thru, then carpet over the hole and caulk the hole air tight.

cool, now i just need to decide on what amp to power the SE sub that's going into the box.

I really like the fosgater power t1000 monoblock, but at 500-550 it's pretty pricey for my blood =[

good box build for sure, just too bad thats not MDF, its is the little cousin - particle board. if that thing gets a DROP of water on it. say goodbye.

dont ever put screws in WITHOUT pre-drilling, or they are comming out.

MDF is WAY denser, and has WICKED small particles. particle board is ALOT more porus, and uses bigger chunks of sawdust.

i dont know how bad it will be for flexing\breaking. but be warned... that box is made of not-the-best material... but looks promising.

let us know how it turns out. im not saying that your box is bad or anyhting, just giving you the heads up - next time look for Medium Density Fiberboard, not just Fiberboard, or Particle board.

if particle board is so absorbant, then wouldnt a couple layers of resin really help?

yea, i realized that today while looking at the wood today at home depot. I'll be building another box but this will suffice for now. Also, i did predrilled the holes as i noticed the first 2 i drilled in had slight cracks in it. I will make a new box and the new pictures will definite be up, hopefully it'll look even more cleaner the 2nd time doing this =]

The only reason i used this instead of the actual mdf sheet that i was about to purchase was because my dad told me he had some at home in the garage, so i put the mdf back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

would that be on the outside of the box? *goes and searches*

to seal the box well, put the fiberglass on the inside

to make the box waterproof, but the fiberglass on the outside
