Building a guitar cabinet/enclosure

Putting this in the lounge instead of enclose section because it is not necessarily car audio related. But since there's lots of people here that like music, I figure there's some guitar players on the forum.

I'm thinking about building a 2x12 cab for my guitar amp as something to do. Has anyone done it? My main questions are can you use speakers like a Dayton full range speaker instead of proper guitar speakers that cost 250 a peice?

Question 2, most guitar cabs I have had are open back which I would think would create a lot of cancellation. Thoughts on sealed vs open back cabinet.

Thanks shredder, guess I'll build a closed-back. Now the question of how the sound would be affected by using regular speakers instead of guitar speakers.

Do a search to get some opinions. Type "Can I play my guitar through regular stereo speakers" or something similar. Just a suggestion.
