First time building box

I just did a box the other night for my sx. And if you want to save time and spend a few extra dollars. ( i do for lack of room and the mess) at lowes, I get the wood. Give the guy my sheet with what I need cut on it. They charge $.25 a cut. Almost everytime they tell me dont worrie about it and only charge me for the wood. And I go home and just put it together. Almost every time it has been on the money as long as my measurments are right. But sometimes I need to sand a piece or so to get it just right but heck for the price and time it saves me its well worth it.

nice looking box therer man. just use some resin on it and it will last u a good long time

peace

next time, make pilot holes tho, it makes everything much easier as well as prevents splitting of the wood

Dont use loose fiberglass, if your to layer the outside of the box. Resin-coat the interior lightly, like with a paint roller. just wet it nicely. Then soak fiberglass MAT and apply like paper mache to the outside. fiberglass cloth is way easier to apply than the loose stuff.

2 ounce mat should be fine for your box.

And pre-drill the MDF a bit, dont use elmers glue. Use the Heavy Duty wood glue like ya find at Home depot. That Gorilla glue works pretty good, but i prefer the strong glue just for wood materials.

Don't forget an itty-bitty bit of bracing if you can spare it.

Peace man, waiting to see the new pics!

i think i'm gonna build another box and scrap this one, but use it for now and see how it sounds till i finish the build on the other one with mdf. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i'm not too satisfied with this box, though i only spent a day and a half working on it.

I'll do the mdf version of the same box and see how it sounds, but for now i'm still deciding on an amp to power it, and my sub isn't gonna get shipped from RE till thur/friday of this week...

Any recommendations for amps??!? The ed nine.1 is out of stock not to mention puts out 900 watts rms which is a little too much for the sub since it only handles 600wrms.

I was looking at the fosgate p6001 and its right at 600wrms. Kicker 600.1 is also. Inputs please?

Btw, Req, as for the box flexing, i doubt it will flex much but i'll test it out and keep you updated. The box is pretty **** strong and sturdy. i've jumped on it and nothing. But then again i'm only 140 lbs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Thanks for all the help guys!

k guys, so i said i'd give it a try in this box built from particle board. Anyways, **** THIS SHIT KNOCKS!!!!

i love it...

i put raamat thru the entire trunk/the deck/the doors, now my spoiler wont stop rattling =[

That box is hot, nice and straight cuts. My box cuts are crooked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
