Finally....My new install build

I use Dupont Truck Bed Liner ..it is tough as hell and it

dries really fast...

those mids do look sick in the pods...when I first stuck them in I was kind

of in aw for a few minutes...my wife even complimented on them

and my stereo hobby drives her nuts...

I hope the tweeter install will compliment the mids

the sub enclosure is really gonna be a peice of work....

got my other set of components today.... 8)

I am going to try and finish the door pods this weekend if I find

time around my blue print orders

I will be running one X-over per channel and I decided torun one PX 600.2 amp per channel

I'm all hyped..time to pull out the fiberglassing material and go to work

on the doors

It is going to be a SICK Sound Quality system when finished....
First I just want to say that your box building and fiberglassing work is amazing, I wish I had the experience to be able to pull all that off. I guess everyone has to start somewhere.

But by one crossover per channel, do you mean you are planning on using one pair of woofers in parallel and one pair of tweeters in parallel on each crossover? Because I believe that changing the impedance of the load changes the crossover points of the crossover circuit. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm not 100% sure. I hope you mean that you're running one tweeter and one mid per crossover...

Have you considered running this active? You seem to have the amp power to do it, and I'm sure you can afford the processing. You could integrate everything and get much better sound quality that way.

You also said you don't believe in subsonic filters...I don't quite get that. You wouldn't use one to prevent unloading in a ported box? I'm just here to learn from people with more experience, so don't take anything personally.

I am not changing the ohms of anything....

the x-overs each have 2 channels..one channel for left

and one for right...each channel having a 4 ohm load

instead of having each x-over run a left and right channel

I am going to have one x-over designated to the left channel

and the other one would be designated to the right channel

everything is still a normal 4 ohm per channel

and the amps will also run in the same configuration..one

amp strictly for the left and one for the right..a 4 ohm load per

channel..

as far as my beleif in sub sonic filters....what does the word

"sub" in sub woofer really mean???

sub means below....a sub woofer produces notes below what

a normal woofer will do...any woofer will pick up notes above

the sub sonic frequencies...a real sub woofer will nail all the

sub sonic notes down to 10hz..

as far as I am concerned a sub woofer set up that does not pick up

sub sonic frequencies is useless...not impressive to me at all..

my systems always go right down to 10hz flawlessly in ported

enclosures

(I was flexing my doors with a single 10" woofer at 10hz in my test box)

I guess I am just old school..I seriously think sub sonic filters

are a band aid for a crap box or a crap woofer

Ahhh so then each component set comes with only one crossover? So it's a 4-channel crossover... you're just gonna use a 4-channel for the L and a 4-channel for the R. Not a bad idea.

Definitely looks sick so far. I sooooo want to build myself new door panels, but I just don't think it's worth it in this car anymore. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Oh, okay, I didn't know the crossovers were 2-channel. I've never had anything nearly so high end. Pretty sweet looking components too.

I can't wait until the day comes when I have the money and space to buy a car and have fun modifying it for audio, looks amazing. Can't wait to see the rest of your progress.

One more question though, how do you cut the slits in the MDF to curve it to make the curved side of the port?

well I finally had a chance to listen to these things....

the wave guides work awsome so I am going to put

both sets of tweeters in the doors with the wave guides...

man are these things crisp....everything I expected from them:)

it's gonna be sick sounding when I get the amps in

I'll have pics up later on once I get everything cleaned up

Nery nice build Thumpper //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

anyways got the components installed..

I used both of the wave guides...tried a pair of tweeters on the

pillars with some sticky puddy..placed them all over but the

tweeter in the wave guide sounded best...

I ended up sticking both tweeters in the doors

wholly crap!!!!!!!! these comps sound SWEET //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

the way it is set up the sound swallows you whole...

I like it 8)

I took the car down to Crown electronics to show them off..

we opened both doors and stood about 75 feet behind the car

with the system turned up

(running only 50w rms X 4 at the moment)

my god...it was clear as a bell and the midbass is really

impressive...I have always though JBL made the best

Titanium tweeters and I still have the same opinion now

I'm a very happy camper
