Few SI MAG 12'' Questions

After doing some reaserch on these boards i now need the new SI MAG 12''. Seems to be the best overall SQL driver. Now my first question is where is the best place to pick them up, so far i have only seen them on low-hz.com for 450 shipped. What have all you mag owners paid?

Also is the Massive Audio P1000.1 a good amp to run this sub to its full potential? If not what other amps do you reccomend?

Lastly, this sub will be going in my hatchback and i want to put it in a sealed enclosure for great sound quality. SI reccoments 1-1.3 cu^3 for sealed enclosure. What would be the best cu^3 for this sub running at 1000rms @1 ohm? I listen to pretty much everything from rock to hiphop to ambient trippy shit. Thanks.

look in the classifieds. i paid $325 shipped for my 15" mag, so there are deals out there. i'd build a sealed enclosure around what SI recommends. you can always add polyfill if needed. 1000 watts is perfect for a mag. could even give it more with no problem

quite honestly... the mags sound so good ported.. I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sealed route with 1kw.. I'd probably go to the high side of what SI reccomends.. 1.2-1.3 cuft..

$450 shipped sounds about right to me.. low-hz has some kickass customer service.. so I'd reccomend that route..

1kw of power will do great... shouldn't have any issues there..

Now what would be the advatages to getting at 15'' instead of a 12''? Will the 15 hit lower notes, but the 12 will have better overall SQ? Would the 12 be the best "all around" sub?

15 would have the ability to get louder and hit lower notes and sounds just as good as the 12, but it would require more space.

So there would be no difference in SQ? I would sound just as good and play all music types just as well, just get louder and hit lower? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif :yumyum: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I have room, and cash, screw my trunk space. The only thing im worried about is that it wont be as accurate, cuz i listen to ALL types of music.

The 15's SQ will be just as good as the 12's. If you have the room for the 15, it is a better choice.

So the 12 will not have a "tighter, punchier" bass? Everything i have read has told me this about 12 vs 15's.

Also does anyone have some basic measurements for a 3 cu^3 sealed box just so i can see how much space it will take up?

the "tighter" bass from smaller subs is all a myth, it mostly has to do with box size and style. as for the box just get some measurements, take off 1.5" on each one (if you're using 3/4 mdf) to find internal size, multiply the lxwxh, then divide by 1728 to get internal box size

edit:i just did 30x15x15 minus 1.5 on each length for internal dimensions and came out with just a tad above 3^2
