Few questions...

I'm obviously not fully understanding the concepts of sound deadening. I'm looking at it, and the key thing is to fill gaps, eliminate spots where it's metal or plastic on other metal and plastic, and secure it. The second consideration is to add weight, reduce the actual vibrations of the door itself.

As I see it, a simple application of expanding foam could be used to fill the inside of the door, as long as you accurately filled all gaps. However, I think I'm missing an acoustical application for actual sound deadening. This would apply to the rear deck, too - most of my rattles that are noticeable come from the rear deck - which I put down a layer of foam between the cover and the metal, and that helped, but I still get some noise.

My other question applies to an IB setup, after reading through James thread on his build of an IB setup. I'm considering moving to that, mounting it up over the top of the rear deck. My question is - due to the nature of a trunk car, wouldn't this imitate a hatchback setup in terms of cabin gain? In effect, you gain back the volume you lose in converting to an IB setup.

And, is the gain in SQ large from it? Partly, I want to do it, because I want a project to do, but I'm wondering about potential gains. I'm getting the impression that it would be worth it. My sub is suitable for the applications, at least, according to crutchfield's information, up to about the amount of power I would be running to it.

And to any who ask based on my previous thread, yes, I obtained a crossover, low passed it at about 90hz. Which, I'm still playing around with it.

you don't plan on ever opening the windows again?
Ick, that's true. You could avoid the runners, however, and catch the the other gaps. A bit beside the point though. I was more wanting a more in-depth explanation of how sound deadening works, however.

And other questions weren't answered.
