Few questions

I'm planning on putting a 13w7/jl1000:1 in my car. Just needed some advice on highs, im looking for something that will compliment my sub. I was thinking about running a jl450/4, just wanted to know what highs(component set/rear 6x9s) are out on the market that work great and wont kill the pocket book.

First of all, do a search for "rear fill".... most people will tell you to stick with front components and forget about the rear unless you are sending a dedicated surround signal to the rear. Rear speakers run in stereo or mono without a delay will destroy a good front sound stage (you won't have any).

Good speakers for the dollar.... PPi 356cs, Cerwin V- Max 65, Orion HCCA -6 ... these are comparable to Focal, Quart, Polk, and rainbow speakers which sell for twice the price.

Rear fill is purely a matter of personal preference.

Just because some users prefer not to use it for whatever their reason(s) might be does not mean that it is appropriate advice for them to tell you not to use it either.

If you like it?

Use it.

If you feel you can reasonably do without it and the overall soundstage (and your preferences regarding it) won't suffer for it?

Then do without it and concentrate more funds to the front stage.

If you do like having rear fill, however, then by all means get after it, son!

I not only use rear fill but have amped components making up the rear in my install.

Agreed, but to start with I'd recommend placing focus on the front stage initially and run the factory rears or disconnect them. If you still feel rear would be better for your tastes after some time has passed, then hook up the factory speakers or get a nice replacement set.

This is strictly a suggestion based on my opinion, so take it as you wish.

Great advice DejaWiz. I have always been a non rear kinda guy but I have heard some vehicles that sounded really good with rear speakers. Now I like it both ways.LOL So truck gets front/rear and car get front only. Trial and error is what you are going to have to do to decide what you like the best. Like DejaWiz stated try it with the factories first if you like the rear you can spend some cash on doing them.
