Factory rear panel install

I just want to connect front stage speakers. After more research I see that Dodge runs the fronts in line with the front doors. I assume that means that the crossovers are tied with front doors. Am I understanding this correct?

Thanks, can I install the three dash speakers and have control of them at all?
No thats the wrong way to go.

Do not worry about rears do not worry about center. A properly tuned head unit will make the singer's voice sound like its coming directly in front of you in the center. To do this you need to have a good head unit with active networks and time alignment.

Then just get quality drivers and do your front stage which is just a pair of mids and a pair of tweeters each of them straight to an amp and the head unit does all the crossovers.

Whatever your assumptions on car audio and how it should be done should be wiped clear because the proper way to do sound systems is not doing 5 speakers in your car thats the garbage way.

shopping list

Good active network head unit with 24 bit dac, 13 band or higher EQ, time alignment and high preout voltage.

High sensitivity midrange and tweeter 92 db and up

4 channel amp with 100-150+ watts per channel.

Hey, thank you for the response. So yesterday I bought the PPI p.65c3. Will these work, just leave the crossovers out to go active? Or if I keep it passive won't I still have the time alignment option on my head unit (pioneer avh-x390)? Thanks. I plan on installing once they get here which is this afternoon.

if youre going active, leave the xovers on the amp set to full and yes, each speaker gets its own channel on an active setup
Thank you. Is this how my head unit will recognize the new additional speakers? Or is there something I have to do to make that happen? Reset the head unit to make it go through setup again?

there will be a setting in the h/u to change the rca preouts from front/rear/sub to front tweeter/front mid driver/sub. The deck will not automatically recognize that youre going active, so not setting the deck up properly will very likely blow your tweeters since youd likely be throwing full range at them if its not set to the active settings

For that particular 3 way component set, you cant really go active since your head unit is not capable of 3 way front plus sub which requires 4 pairs of rca outputs, you only have 3 pairs. so just use the crossover have the amp power go to the crossover. you can still time align, it wont be ideal but it should produce some results still.

Holy crap thanks, I would have been frustrated trying to get that to work. Is there a way of doing this by using an amp that has pre outs? Forgive me, I just started learning this stuff. I also remember reading about linkable and strapable amps. Are those anything I can use? I ask because I am replacing my 4 channel amp anyhow. Thanks

I like Imgbb.com better than imgur.
What's the difference? Both are imaging hosting sites.

Yup, RCA's is what will get your amp to communicate with HU.

you dont need to get rid of your 4 channel (if its not stock) you can just bridge your 4 channel amp into 2 channel mode which would require you to find the manufacturer's manual to let you know how to do that since every amp is different.

When its bridged like that you'll get a lot more power so you might not even need to buy another amp. you will need a pair of RCA y splitters which is like 10 bucks for the two.

when bridging

channel 1 and 2 will be channel 1 left

channel 3 and 4 will be channel 2 right.

if the amp does 50 x 4 watts at 4 ohms and 75 x 4 watts at 2 ohms, bridging will get you 150 watts x 2 at 4 ohms.

I have two amps one mono and one 4 channel both are jlaudio jx line. Both have preouts. I want a new amp because I want to go active so either another 4 channel amp or an 8 channel. Is this possible to get another 4 channel amp and run it through the existing amps preout and then be capable of active crossover? Thanks

there is no way for you to go active when you arent running a digital sound processor. The head unit/DSP determines if you can go active or not, you 100% cannot go active with your setup purely because you dont have a means to cross things over and overall control those 3 way ppi components. Keep things simple and just bridge your JL 4 channel.
