Excursion of a woofer

you tuned with a dmm? if amp goes any higher itll go into protect? subs wired correctly? it looks like you checked everything. only thing left is the box. so...

im going to go with the ported theory. my sx's moved a lot more in the ported box than the sealed. if anything, find some one with a ported box and just test your subs in it. or make one. doesnt have to be pretty just as a test.

I would model it in win ISD before hand. get the response cure you want the most. From what I have read type ARRRGGHHHHSS can take about 1krms each. (as long as your careful) And they like to be ported. But, if you are happy with the output right now then I see no reason in going through all the trouble of building a new box just so you can see the subs move more.

i've given one type r 1100 watts daily ported and it loved it. I am wondering if the sub amp was going into protect mode at 75% gain because the car wasn't running? the amp only gets about 12 volts while i'm bumping full tilt when the car is not running. When the car is running it gets around 13.8. So, maybe the reason the amp was going into protect was because the voltage was not high enough for the amp to respond at the 75 percent gain.

What do you think? YOu think the 2 volt drop from the amp was causing this when the car is off?

Hifonics amps will blow up if they are fed a low voltage from what I heard.

Not running the vehicle and running that much power is asking for trouble. Also, remember that most amps will put out more power at a higher voltage.

Anyways, not running the vehicle is mostly likely what caused it to go into protect. It went into protect because the voltage was to low imo.

with any setup, or just mine?

i think i'm going to need to upgrade the big three real soon......... i'm barely getting by with this setup with the stock electrical.

dont bumb with ur car off. and do the big three. whats the stock alt rating on your car? i have stock alt and battery with big 3. with my 2008d and voltage stays pretty good.

I run my shit without the car on sometimes (single yellow top), voltage dips into high 10's sometimes, amp has been goin strong since I got it used almost 6 months ago

Some amps can go lower than others. But its best to play it safe and always be running the vehicle. You may want to invest in a better alt. And a few batteries in the back. And def the big 3.

I'm basing my knowledge on what I have heard of the hifonics amps. I read several conversation where that amp died or exploded because the voltage was to low. I don't know if its in a specific line or year. I just now that it has happened.
