Excursion of a woofer

Put a song on that is low. walk back to your subs and watch them xmax, now cover the port with something and watch what happens.
losses excursion, play a something below ur tuning and watch how fast ur sub unloads lol

op give ur subs more power ur giving them about 1300rms if that

and ur running sealed which majority of the time requires more power for the sub to reach its limits

**** bro there barely moving, my ssd's on walk it out excurt like crazy, something is wrong there.
both subs are wired in phase and it reads 1 ohm on the DMM.

I know, walk it out has stupid bass, does the fact that mine are sealed have a huge impact on how much excursion they should get? Audio holic said that it does, but i agree with you, they are barely moving. They hit pretty hard though, just not silly loud and not much movement at all. I can't turn my gains up anymore either without it going into protect mode.

and is that a sealed box?

edit: i just saw your previous post.. read my earlier post in this thread

also from what i hear, R's dont want a sealed box... how much airspace in the box?

S.F isnt really needed for a sealed box.. the air in the box should control the speaker good enough. SF main purpose is like i said before.. once the sub tries to play a freqency, in a ported box, below the tuning it, has very little control... and if you send too much power at those freqencies you can damage the woofer

try it with it off..only put it on if it sounds liek complete garbage or you're afraid its gonna bottom out

yeah, i'm gonna do that now, i forgot all about it when i switched to sealed.

I'll tell you guys if it makes a difference, BRB

i doubt thats gonna meka huge difference. maybe a db or two and might look like its playing louder cause 20hz or so will play a little more but you cant really hear those freqs. that low... the sealed box is probaly choking those things...

i never set the gains with a dmm....set the cross over to about 50, then turn the gain up till it sounds loud and clean. works for me. my equip never gets warm and is still loud. u deff shouldve did 4.5 cubes ported tuned to 33 with that setup. it would deff slam.

oh then maybe that explains why ''sealed box''!!

you should go ported man, to see what happens, yeah i bet they hit hard etc videos dont do much justice.

i'm pretty sure their hitting around 140 db even sealed at full tilt. As for the gains, they are set to their limits, any higher it will go into protect. They get loud, it's just the excursion issue i am wondering about. I guess it might be the sealed 1.5 CF that is causing it like stated before.

i set my gains correctly, i get minor window flex, my head unit is turned to 62/62 since i am a believer that pioneer head units don't clip (LOL). By the looks of it, it does look weak though. \
Thats why i asked about the excursion of them:confused:

here's another vid with walk it out, it was dark and you can't see that great, but you can see the woofer. Now this is about the lowest song i have heard, that's why i made it.

Pioneers HU's do clip... but at a higher volume than others.

I believe mine begins to clip at 60/62.

yeah, they get significantly louder between 60-62 i noticed. Kinda weird huh? going from 60-62 is like jumping from 15-22 on an alpine.
