EQ setting

i had a laptop and sold it. never left my desk and i couldn't sell my sub and traded it for a desktop and decided to keep the desktop. this rta will have to come later. i guessing around february when i receive a certain check //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

so basiacally you use place the rta mic at your listening position and adjust the eq untill you achieve a relatively flat curve on the rta?
yes. Using pink noise is the best method. As mentioned by Jimj already, it compensates for human ears rolloff. then from there you can use fine EQ adjustments for how you prefer certin types of music to sound and set them in memory.

screw the flat setting, shoot for a curve. sounds so much better.

that's a 3dB step.

search ebay for real time analyzer(the behringer rta's are like $149-$259), or get a laptop, mic, and preamp like mentioned and try www.trueaudio.com/ or http://www.virtins.com/

Why do that? Pink noise is already compensating for the rolloff. That is just introducing an emphasised bottom end. Not my cup of tea, that is for sure.

muahahahhahhahahhaha youre too old to have a good ear for this kind of stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

for SQ juding to get points yes a flat as possible setting is a necessity, but for listening I'd shoot for a smooth curve, which is what I posted.

Come listen to mine...its flat...and its ear *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
