Im thinking of buying the dual skar sdr 12s. My alt is stock 160 amp in my jeep wrangler. If i do the big 3 upgrade could i run those off the taramp smart 3 or should i just stick with the skar rp1200?

I would stick with the rp1200. SDR subs will not take much to make them move so plenty of power there. Full bridge amplifiers like the Smart3 are voltage sensitive and may have issues with the OEM alternator.

Do you need the taraamps? Connect the skar directly to the radio. You will need a bass blocking crosser. Only midrange to lower frequencies will flow. The skar now will act as a midrange speaker. Loud. Here is what you do. Since you don’t want your skar on always, use a toggle switch to turn it off when radio is off. Different volts to it. SPDT switch can be bought at Home Depot or Walmart.

1200 is all the power you need, the box is more important, what's it tuned too ?
