eD 10O.14 mini review...

Well I finally got my 10O.14 into a better box, I started out with a 3cuF box, but built a new one soon after I realized the sub does not like that big of a box. It's now in a .75cuF after displacement of the sub, being powered off of a Tsunami 1100db. Alpine 9815 is my HU....

Ok now to the real part of the review. I have to admit, there seems like there is something wrong with my amp or driver or maybe after using a 15A.22 for a while, I can't compare subs to that driver. Well, I think the sub is seeing about 350 @ 4 ohms. I have to admit, even though a big fan of eD and their subs. This sucker is kinda a let down. Maybe it needs more power, or my amp is broke(which is possible, cuz the logo is not lit up) and not delvering the 350 watts. I can get some decent xmax outta the sub, but it's no where near its peak.

I have some CDT CL-61s for a front stage and some Type R comps in the rear deck. I can hardly notice that there is a sub in my trunk. Does this sound right to anyone? There's no noticeable difference when I have the sub running or not. Do my comps have special SQL dust that make them real loud? Probably not. I need to get a bigger amp to see if I can get more outta this ten.

I bet when I get my Kx in, the Kx will do better with that much power. Anyone have any ideas? I am going to do some 20hz-60hz tones tomorrow with out any of the comps running to see if I can get some bass outta that sub. Stay tuned.

wicked double post man....lol jk. Yea I am going to have to buy a new Soundstream and feed this 10 about 800 watts to see if I really like it or not. I bet I will......

talk to Nswartley about it. Hes got 1 12" O. Im sure uve got something wrong in ur setup. it doesnt suprise me that u have a 9815 either and ur having trouble getting bass. Sounds like ur settings arent right. I say check the HU.

Hi!

I'm new to this forum. I am in the process of designing my sub enclosure and purchasing my sub. During my research into the subject I ran across this forum I was thinking of a single ED 10" O or 10"A series sub. I have talked to the tech rep at ED and he has recommended a .50 sealed box for my application. Of course with such a small enclosure you have to have the power to drive it. I have a Memphis ST1000D (600w @2ohm, 1100w @ 1ohm) He said this would be a very good mate for either of the subs.

I have not yet decided which way to go. I want to keep to the single sub system for now. If I change my mind and want to add a second the O series would allow that upgrade with the same amp. However to A's would not work with this amp. Anyway my point here was just to introduce myself and pass that bit from the rep at ED on to namster44 granted his recommendation was based on the tight space I was working with but he did say the 10 O and I would be very happy with a .50 box

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. The 10 O 4ohm could be wired to 2ohm @ 600 watts. Then later if I felt the need to add another I could wire it to 1ohm @ 1100 watts to the pair. Where the A which is only available in 2ohm would be wired to 1ohm @ 1100 w. If I want to later add a second it would have to be wired to .5 ohm which I don't think the amp is capable. I sould also say that I'm new to all this stuff but that is my understanding of how it works. More thoughts welcome.

Yes, but like I said, I would rather stick to a single 10 due to limited available space. I guess the10 A would do it all. The guy from ED says one of either will do the job quite nicely. I don't know if I'm as discerning as you but I do like my music. I have a decent system for my home. I wouldn't call it audiophile but certainly good. I never even upgraded a car stereo before. This is the first time I felt it was worth doing. I spend alot of time in my car and I think I'll have this car a while so why not? I'm more about SQ. At my age I don't need the neighbors hearing me coming down the block. I'm sure either way I go they will hear me coming. Oh well... they all think I'm a half bubble off plumb anyway. Why try to change their minds now.
