Dumb sub voice coil wiring question

Ok - DVC 4ohm sub, want to bridge it across two 4ohm channels.

Do I just do (voice coils) neg->positive, then I have a neg from one coil and a pos. from other coil and use the two left over for the amp? Reason I ask is cause all the voice coil wiring stuff I've seen had to do with messing with the impedances - the amp is 4ohm bridged and the sub is 4ohm.

Ok, if it is one DVC sub, you can run it in either 2 or 8 ohm operation. I think you are saying the amp is two channel. If it is, then you cant really bridge the one sub to this amp without either losing power by running 8 ohms, or causing damage to the amp by running 2 ohm. What kind of amp is it?

If the amp is a 4-channel I would suggest you bridge the front channels into one voice coil and the rear channels into one coil. Make sure though that you have y-splitters feeding all the channels the same signal.

specs:

RMS Power: 65W x 4 @ 12.9V

Bridged RMS Power: 160W x 2 @ 12.9V

both are @ 4ohm

I (will) use first 2 channels for a set of cdt cl-61s, and the other two bridged for the 4ohm DVC 12" sub

on http://www.usacoustics.com/newline/usx/usx4065/ it says I can get 80Wx4 @ 2ohms, but doesn't say anything other than 4ohm for bridging (don't know if that means I can't do 2ohms though bridged)

You saying there's no way to wire it to 4ohm...cause when I bought it off eD, they have a 2ohm and 4ohm and I thought since the amp said 4ohm bridged, that a 4ohm sub was what I wanted...

Should I return this and get the 2ohm version? (It just came today too! Oh well - I'm still waiting for my box and kick panels anyway...)

Thats right to

There is a way... that you brige the amp and wire one voice coil to one channel and another to second channel... then you amp is 2X160W... if its enoug to your sub.

What sub you have?

so you're suggesting I just wire the third channel to voice coil 1, and the fourth channel to voice coil 2? Channels 3 & 4 won't have the same signal (will have a left & right unless I played a mono-encoded song); that won't hurt the sub with each voice coil having a different signal?

No... you brige channel 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 one voice coil to briged 1 & 2 and another to briged 3 & 4.

However stereo signal could be a problem... but helps RCA splitters ( Y cable) you divide one pair RCA to two pairs and connect it to amp...

why do you feel this way? as a matter of fact, I'm takin' helotaxi's advice setting stuff up this way, who's someone who knows his stuff
