You guys crack me up. Alternator dieing?LOL... don't worry bout what these guys are saying. I've had a 40 farad cap in my 2003 beetle with 1750 watt rms system for 6 years now and haven't had one prob with my alternator or dimming for that matter. Also have the same cap in my lady's trailblazer with 1600watt rms( goin on 4 years) with no probs and very little dimming and now I have a yukon denali that I once again use the same model cap in. I agree that a cap alone won't fix dimming but it is not a bad thing to have one and if installed correctly with all the other appropriate wiring and a good battery it will only help your system...Since you have the cap, install it BUT don't come back here crying when your alternator dies over the course of the next three to six months!
What is it with you kids who spend a small fortune on a subwoofer setup then want to take the cheapest way possible to supply it with enough current? Either save up and do it right or continue to chase your tail.Suggestions on batteries ?? and no im not made of money..sumthing under 200
you can get by with a decent batt and a stock alt... watch your voltage, if it dipps low turn it down, if you got really bad voltage drops then get the alt. its just common sense to keep your system running long. What is it with you kids who spend a small fortune on a subwoofer setup then want to take the cheapest way possible to supply it with enough current? Will another battery help? Probably. Do you have a way to top off that extra battery in the event that your stock alternator can't keep it charged?
Yeah, right... listen to the new guy with 5 posts. A capacitor is NOT a substitute for a proper electrical system and if you have a proper electrical system you don't need the capacitor. Basically, a capacitor is like putting a band aid over a bullet wound. You guys crack me up. Alternator dieing?LOL... don't worry bout what these guys are saying.
