CVR vs Type-R

I've seen the Type R in the Alpine box and I've seen the CVR 05. I have seen BOTH(in person) of them within 2 weeks of each other. Type R at tweeter, CVR in that guy's Monte Carlo. To me it seemed the CVR was MUCH louder but the Type R had better sq. I'd say CVR kills it in SPL though. Maybe it was jsut because I heard two W6V2s in a sweet box right before I heard the Type R, and that messed up my judgement, but i doubt it.

or the fact that you heard one at a shop and one in a car??

rawr youre such a stubborn newb! some of the most extreme spl subs have less xmax than your dick. if you really want to see a pattern its the sq subs that boast higher xmax....less distortion at higher excursion. go watch a stroker and tell me that thing isn't loud, and tell me it looks cool....cuz it doesnt lol. popular *** sub late nineties...one person i knew had one...just ugly as hell

yea i was gonna say that too. Like if the sensitivity is measured exactly the same way every single time or if the companys dont add a little to make it seem right. CEA should test these things not the companies

you know what i'm going to do.

i'm going to order both 2 12" 2005 cvc and 2 12" 2004 type-r from crutchfield to hear them.

then i'm going to return them and buy the one's i liked for cheaper at a shop i have hook-up's.

anyways crutchfield has that free return shipping.

The website says that, but the 2005 lit I have in my hand says 800/1000..I will look into that...But none the less, I would listen to each, and decide....I wouldn't just take my word for it, the ears judge better.
You should edit every post that you said the CVR are 800/1000 because your way off. Everyone else is right my friend... They are 400w RMS each and 800w RMS for a pair of 12's. I imagine you know this by now though...

Anyways, my preference in the Type R's, geesss I wonder why? *looks at sig* //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

CVR's can take MUCH more than their rated power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And BTW, those CVR's in that vid are my buddies. And yes, they get stinking loud, and yes, they will SPANK the OLD type-r's. I've never heard the new type-r's so i can't say anything about them.

The Linear excursion increases the SPL. That simple, the cone can travel farther out without as much distortion.
That couldn't be more WRONG either. The best example is the cerwin vega stroker. PITIFUL excursion, yet they can get ridiculously loud.

yea also while we are in the xmax convo. I pretty sure i saw some SPL sub that had like .75 xmax and as the name says its SPL.

AND YES the cvrs take way more than they are rated.

AND no one can say whats louder between the new Type Rs cuz i dont think anyone has gotten their hands on them. But agen numbers and size isnt something that will convince me.

yes, quite aware.....my mistake, it is 400/800, and it's 400 RMS and 800 max.

Are you guys arguing which sub is better or which sub will get louder? I personally want a more SQ oriented sub and I was going to purchase the new Type R would you guys suggest it? I read type R's are pretty good inexpensive SQ subs. I read the thread but I was trying to weed our the flaming/info until I just decided to ask. Thanks in advance.
