Does anyone have some pointers for me for setting the gain on an amp without using a multimeter? Im at college with no multimeter, and no home depot within 30 miles. I have an IA 20.1 thats going to be ran at 0.5 ohms, on two 18" RE SX's

If anyones got some pointers on how to safely set the gain, let me know.

I could run over to walmart i guess too, and get a cheap DMM, are the cheapo's reliable?

I got a DMM from walmart and another one from Radioshack (just to be sure was effy about geting one from walmart) and both give me the same reading.

You can go old school.. Turn gain down, turn HU up to the max that you ever would, like 3/4 or so. Slowly turn up gain till it starts to clip, then turn back a hair. Done. I set my amps like this and have had no problems....yet.
