i cant do that ether so we are in the same boat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gifI freely admit that I am terrible at math. And guessing how many jelly beans are in a jar.
I really dislike this argument against electric cars. After all, if you're going to take into consideration all those fossil fuels consumed to build the electric car then aren't those same fuels consumed building a regular gas powered car? And where does that gas come from? Oil processing plants burn more fossil fuels and then there's the cost of transporting all that oil & gas, etc. The point being, you simply throw out all these vague accusations to try and discredit what is simply an attempt at lessening our impact on the environment. Sure it may not be perfect but how can you damn us for trying?I think it is laughable that morons out there think an electric car is "greener" than your standard fossil fuel burning model. I mean shit, where does one think the electricity comes from to charge up the POS electric car? Most likely, coal. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Not to mention, ever look into what goes into building an electric car? Burns way more fossil fuel and makes a carbon footprint way larger than building my Silverado. Fucking environmental wackos. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
While I follow your point, the problem is that electric car owners (or hybrid owners) seem to think their vehicle is better for the environment, when the reality is (unless they are for 100% nuclear power) then the electricity to power their 'green' vehicle still uses fossil fuel and pollutes the environment. If you are going to start playing the 'Im better than you are because of my carbon footprint' game, then you better be willing to look past the first step of your footprint.I really dislike this argument against electric cars. Yes, I agree, electricity generation in some aspects is not green at all. However hydro, solar, and wind powered are all clean sources (within reason) and I believe the entire environmentally friendly movement also includes furthering those technologies. I'm not trying to take any holier than thou standpoint and I think anyone who drives an electric car and does is retarded. I'm just saying I hate the people who make it a point to tear down any attempt at lessening our impact on the environment. IMO, electric cars are a step in the right direction, they may not be a giant leap, but at least they're headed toward a cleaner goal than gasoline could ever produce. While I follow your point, the problem is that electric car owners (or hybrid owners) seem to think their vehicle is better for the environment, when the reality is (unless they are for 100% nuclear power) then the electricity to power their 'green' vehicle still uses fossil fuel and pollutes the environment. That's your opinion. There are those of us that follow it closely and look at the scientific data. It turns out that the ozone hole has been there the entire time we've had the technology to view it. We've seen production(various products) INCREASE throughout the world yet there has been no global warming since 1998 even with these increased emissions. We have seen the top climate researchers at the University of East Anglia get their emails hacked, where they admit they are hiding data because it disproves that global warming exists. They plot ways to manipulate the data and/or delete it. We have observed oil wells that have been pumped dry 50 years ago become full again and re-pumped. Because of this, those of us who stay informed on the subject are not alarmed about a continued usage of oil. It's the most cheap and abundant energy resource man has discovered aside from nuclear power. Should we research alternatives? Sure. People should always look for ways to broaden their horizons, but there is no evidence we are destroying the planet or running out of oil etc. We aren't allowed to drill for domestic oil in places where oil actually exists. We know where HUGE quantities of it are and can't drill for it. So we have a man-made fuel shortage here in the US.Yes, I agree, electricity generation in some aspects is not green at all. I'm all for innovation bro...my main point is still valid and I am really trying to point out that as of today, people who are "green" think they are better than those of us who are not as "green" and think that their way is the right way. Meanwhile they push the bullshit "science" on us aka "global warming/climate change" and try to tell me (and others) that my Silverado is what is killing the fucking polar bears. All the while, the GOVERMENT tries to shove this "new technology" down our throats. Check out all the bullshit Obama Motors did to manufacture that wonderful vehicle called the Volt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gifI really dislike this argument against electric cars. That being said, I just thought I'd mention that I have a friend that works for what I believe is the largest solar panel manufacturer in the country and not too long ago he mentioned they had just developed a newer higher efficiency panel that was something around 17% efficient. Still not a staggering number but if we don't keep researching and trying to "build a better mousetrap" then we essentially are giving up on innovation. We aren't simply going to stumble upon the technology to build 80-90% efficient panels. Same goes for electric vehicles, it's a slow process but at least give them some credit for trying.
Amen brotha...let the MARKET decide when a new technology can displace an old one. Don't have the government and some environmental wackos shove it down our collective throats by making up bullshit science to try and scare the masses. That's your opinion.
