Toyota Prius is basically the sametesla makes a car that runs a generator on gas that charges the electrical system that runs the car, thats the only thing close to this, but your still using gas to make electricity.
the oil companies control the world, there is no convincing the oil companies of anything, they run the car industry and are the ones who make cars what they are, im almost positive we have the technology to make cars more fuel efficient, i could be wrong though, but the oil companies are the ones who shorten their leash around the car companies. I mean my dads 1992 camry gets 34 mpg with the original engine and 350xxx miles and the new camrys get the same, with the new technology they should be getting twice as much. thats just my thoughts though....lulz...........and no one here has addressed the real issue. How can you convince companies like G.E. who drill for Oil in almost every major oil play in the world to just stop making that much money and invest in patents that would drastically reduce their income and require huge investments with less returns????
I thought it was irony that the Chevy Volt got the same fully electric range on a single charge than one of the first electric car built over 100yrs ago when the same battle was being fought over electric vs steam...40 miles.the oil companies control the world, there is no convincing the oil companies of anything, they run the car industry and are the ones who make cars what they are, im almost positive we have the technology to make cars more fuel efficient, i could be wrong though, but the oil companies are the ones who shorten their leash around the car companies. They stopped trying to make cars more fuel efficient years ago in lew of adding more power. If they kept working on efficiency in economy cars instead of making them the most powerful economy cars, they would be getting much better mileage these days. We have only caught up in the last few years to where things where 25 years ago. These cars in the late 80's to early 90's got over 40mpg.the oil companies control the world, there is no convincing the oil companies of anything, they run the car industry and are the ones who make cars what they are, im almost positive we have the technology to make cars more fuel efficient, i could be wrong though, but the oil companies are the ones who shorten their leash around the car companies. but with the spike in fuel, we'll say 4 years ago, there has been numerous model changes in cars, like the camry, but fuel efficiency didnt change any with the new model even though there was a trend towards more fuel efficient cars. seems to be the same with most cars that are still coming out and undergoing major model changes. They stopped trying to make cars more fuel efficient years ago in lew of adding more power. what i meant was that the engine is solely meant as a generator to charge the car and the electricity it produces is used to drive the car.I hate to make you think really fucking hard about this, but where do you think the electricity comes that you charge the Tesla with, and how do you think it is made?
