Computer fan constantly running.......How to get it to stop?

i for one don't overclock my computer, second 90% of the time i'm browsing the forum or reading up on information or letting utorrent do it's thing. so i rarely even push my computer to a great load to cause the temp to rise anymore than 35c. yeah i run a stock heat/fan but i use arctic silver 5 to help.

this is why i say i average out a 30c. cause i don't do shit. lol

I just ran prime95 and my temps shot to 74C after a minute. I turned it off after that.

I need to clean out my heat sink, and maybe change out my thermal paste. Still using the stuff it came with. My 300mhz overclock probably wasnt it helping it either haha.

lol....yeah changing tim is a great way to reduce temps I seen stock hsf drop 18C from just changing tim to AS5

Lol I just saw last night my old PEN 3 said 1.7V on the Chip, I started laughing so hard I have never seen any chip put on 1.7volts and survive any thing...Unless its on a phasechanger at -30C

If you've never seen a chip that runs at 1.7v you're too young. I remember the Pentium days when they ran at 5v, then down to 3.3v then 2.5v, anyway, for the most part, you have no clue what you are talking about, but not worth arguing with an idiot.

As for my PC, only original part to it is the case and PSU.

First incarnation was a S939 Athlon64 3500+ with a DFI LanParty Ultra, 250GB Maxtor hdd, 1GB OCZ PC500 VX DDR, Radeon X800XL and a ThermalRight XP-90C heatsink.

Second incarnation included an upgrade to a Athlon64 X2 4400+, 2 GB OCZ PC500, 500GB Western Digital HDD.

No I haven't because im only 18 this year and I never seen computers older then 10 years old
