Computer fan constantly running.......How to get it to stop?

Yay for my 1.7ghz Intel Celeron processor with an integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, with 64mb of integrated memory. Topping it off with a grand 446mb of RAM, after taking off the VRAM.

Yes, I do game on this thing. Laptop ftw. I have Spore running moderately smoothly.. Surprised me. Started up Crysis, but it didn't do so well.

Kept my software clean, tweaked, and optimized, though. Really helps.

What amazed me was getting Crysis running on my 2.2ghz AMD Athlon 3400+, with a 7300GT nVidia graphics, and 1 gb of RAM. Had it running at 30 fps on min detail...

I do all this from software mods, too. I can't OC at all, didn't build these computers.

Might be unnecessary for simple dusting and brushing the heatsink, but I always try to ground myself when reaching in my case.

Took some air duster and a brush to it this evening. Got a ton of dust out. The fan is barely running and I have been on here for 20 minutes....Hope it fixed it..
Thanks.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif you mean you didn't pull the processor heatsink and spend $60 for an unnecessary part? :p

Always a good idea to ground yourself, i normally just work in the kitchen where I don't have carpet to reduce the static.

Never killed anything by ESD yet I have worked on computers a ton, even in carpeted rooms.

get a 2" paint brush. like the cheap $1 ones they sell at home depot.
take the computer outside, and remove the case side panek, just brush off the dust that is caked in around the heat sink and all around the computer.

cans of duster are bullshit and are a big waste of money unless if you're huffing the stuff.

use a brush, you will get much better results and it won't cause any damage.
what about the static charge? im not sure if it would be enuogh to fry somthing but ive seen stranger things happen

i have fried a handfull of ecu's by esd, i have seen motherboards, vid cards just about anything fried by esd. it happens more than you would thing... carpet+PC parts=FRIED

Whys this thread still going on? I stopped posting here last night. . . I suggest you spend 800$ on a phase changer and cool the cpu to -60
ya cause if you leave the thread dies

as i recall you originally suggested fixing the problem by spending money on a new HSF and some thermal paste and then fixing it by going into the bios and changing temps around

i.e. the worst advice of the thread

no doubt you have some general knowledge of computers and their acronyms, but you have much to learn in the "help a noob fix a simple problem" department

you have to realize all deerhunt knows anything about is fat girls, turkey fucking and shoe polish:p:

Quick screenshot. I'm stable at 4.0Ghz at this voltage but I'm not liking the temps on this 130w CPU.

I'm only running a 9500GT video card because I cheaped out on my PSU for now.

What's your Cinebench score Chase?
