Computer fan constantly running.......How to get it to stop?

I built mine 3 years ago. Went with a RAID 0 setup halfway through. Helped me keep up with other people with slightly newer stuff for awhile. Now, my CPU doesn't even meet min requirements of games I want to play. And either I got a bad stepping or reivision for OCing, but my Opteron sucks at going above 2.2. Tried all kinds of configurations, tweaks. *shrug*
Doing a complete new build currently. Hoping to get about 3 years out of it as well.

Opteron huh. I remember a few years back, that was a forum boner processor on a forum I used to frequent. haha

Out of curiosity.
How often do you guys upgrade your comps?

I built my gaming computer 2 1/2 years and still runs like a champ. Havnt really seen a reason to upgrade as I can play any game out there. I see people who buy new acc. every few months or whatever.

i stopped upgrading about 2-3 years ago cause it was pretty pointless. i used to base mine around a gaming machine but i grew out of mmorpg gaming and just stick to downloading music, jacking off, and *****ing on the forum.

though, i get "hand-me-downs" from my brother which pretty much keeps my comp out of date but still performing at a great rate. i have an after market cpu heat sink but when i swapped a lot of parts out and got the corsair 4gbs of memory they stand out too far so i had to go back to stock. don't care though. love the XFX 7800GTX though.

I have a lil story of how dustin your comp will help out alot.

I was doing some HD video conversions. Was using 98-100% of my CPU. I temps shot up to 80C for awhile. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I took away my overclock and it dropped a lil. I took off my CPU heat sink, got rid of all the shit, the temps dropped about 15-20C under load doing the same conversions.

I'd post a pic of mine but I dont know where my camera is. My whole case is made out of transparent UV reactive arylic. I have UV led fans in my comp and it glows pretty cool in the dark.

I ran with an XFX 7800GS for the longest time, was a decent card. It reached its limits though when I installed BF2142.

I like to get a duster hold it upside down and freeze my chocolates and eat them. Works well on cake too. I thought I put that out there...fbi90909 invest in some zip ties clean all the wires up. You will get better air flow to.

not a fan of those 100% clear cases.

mine was some 60 dollar case i bought about 6 years ago. has a deep metallic blue car paint like paint coating on it. to me, it's a case and does what a case needs to do, be a case. lol.

i used to run an MSI 7800GT. the XFX 7800GTX was a nice step up for watching ****. no more gaming on my computer so i haven't benched it nor do i care to bench anything on my computer. lol. as long as i have my dual monitors and i can play 2 porns seamlessly on my computer at the same time. i'm happy.

if you read an earlier post of mine, my computer runs at an average of 30c on stock amd heatsink/fan. my wires are of no concern to me regarding air flow.

What are you loading at in prime95? I really doubt your loading at 30C even with a dual core on a stock heat sink more like the low 50s

Mine was around 60 bucks likewise. I like it though, really nice build quality.

The only other clear case I know of is by logisys. And that thing is a piece of crap.

No, to slow it down so it doesn't kick in as soon. Most Cpu fans go 100%rpm at 65C on 45nm chips.. Most chips can go 15% over the percent of heat that the manufacture reconmends. So running it at 70C at 70% Rpm will be quieter and keep the chip cooler. I still rec getting a aftermarket cooler. It depends on your chip what cpu are you using?

:facepalm:70c is pretty hot for a CPU temp.

mine on stock AMD heatsink/fan setup runs at 30-33C with a room temp of 72-74F in the house.

70C is really hot man...I'm surpised you chip is still running strong to this day. I wouldn't dear put any chip of mine on 70C maybe for 5 mins to bench but no way in hell....I'm guessing your on a dual core?? Wow thats a ****ing hot *** dual man. . .Are you loading at 70C??? I don't understand where this 70C came from?

I edited my post...I'd bet money your not loading at 30C on prime 95....If you are you god some magical stock heatsink from the gods.

Idc what you idle... I idle at 32C with 1.48Vcore on stock im idling in the low 20s

Google search prime 95, Do a small FFT test of 5 mins then post your temps with a snap shot, if your loading at 30C with a stock heat sink I'l send you 20$ into your paypal acount.

I run EVGA cards, but I liked my friend's XFX. And I am pretty sure fbi has the same PSU as my friend. Thing has THE loudest fan in the world when you crank it. Trumps VGA, NB, and CPU under load even. Dunno how or why.
