can 18awg work for sub + speakers?

larger wire means it can allow more current to flow without having voltage drop. It means you'll have more power actually reach your speakers. If your interested I have a ton of 12 guage speaker wire that I pulled out of a movie theater that was torn down a couple years ago here. I ended up salvaging close to 1000' of at least 14 guage possibly 12 guage wire that's in excellent shape. It doesn't show a brand or anything on it but seem to be good quality stuff, very flexible and pretty tough insulation. I'll check exactly what it is when I get home if anyone is interested and can take pics. I won't be home untill Thursday though.

rockford fosgate for sure

so should i set the gains with my dmm attatched to the end of the speaker line incase the speaker wire isnt getting all the power to the speaker
how big of a difference will it make 18 compared to 14-16 guage

is it actually noticeable
You'll notice when your car is no more.

The main concern with using wire too small is you could over heat it (due to too much amperage going through it) and it could melt/short/spark/start a fire.
