Burp box...

Its too much for me too... but my teammate lent me a batt to test with..
I did see. Its an odd configuration.... but never know til you test
I've been told that it looked like it would not work... it does look like a science experiment gone wrong... I actually checked afterward how that much port fit into Triticum's calculator and it is at the minimum area for the power I inputted... I used Winisd at (3500 watts, yeah it's a pipe dream) and it came up with 88 in2 to keep it under 30 m/s... so far my theories are working... LOL!.. now that I said that any gains from here on out will make NO sense I'm sure... LMFAO!.. yes... tomorrow night...

Well it's in and no obvious problems... (bottoming or crazy tuning change)... The darned thing is hard to tell if I gained or not... I am not going to go out on a limb and predict a number... but at least I did NOT lose any output... that's for sure... LOL!.. It might have worked... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif
The problem here is that you'll get a big pocket of turbulence up where that port opens up at 90 degrees. If you wanted any hope of that working properly you'd need to flare it out from the back.

If this does not gain do not rule out the idea of more port and higher tuning gaining.

I got a gain... did not sweep today... only tried 50 hz outlaw, sealed and 55 hz outlaw... I think any more easy gains will be from redoing the box... with an even bigger port and place it on the drivers side this time... but opening up the port did work... maybe not as well as it should due to turbulence... LOL!.. I'll take it anyways... no tape tonight or a fool on the roof... no pushing doors or glass.... It was a baseline for future gains if I redo the box... it worked... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif.. I'm thinking that I'll take a break for about a week and relax... I've been changing it around so much that I'm burnt out... LOL!... here are the numbers anyways...

Outlaw...

Sealed at 50 hz... in the kick

That ugly box DID draw a crowd... LOL!..

Correction: .8 db sealed... LOL!... .7 outlaw... no sweep to find frequency just 50 hz... it really went down at 45 hz and 55 hz... I'll change the whole box next time... LOL!.. probably 4.5 ft3 net with 100 in2 of port... another experiment... IDK what would yield better numbers... center port or drivers side... thoughts?

I'm gonna take a break for a week... then rebuild and test some more theories... LOL!.. IDK if Winisd is helping or not... seems to be... but once the next box is in I'm SURE I'll be at that point where gains are NOT easy or make sense... I'm finding that correct volume and area for my amps power now (I'm gonna raise the input some when I model it)... problem is IDK really how much power I've got... so efficiency at 50 hz is going to be the order of the day... it's only wood anyways... LOL!

It's kinda funny... caught the woman cranking up the tunes with the burp box (caught a whiff so I asked her a few specific questions) installed so I changed back to the 30 hz tuned one due to her trying to get lows out of a box not built for it... coils are still good, thank god... but with the "demo" box in again it really "sounds" louder...I know it's perception as I'm positive it will not do 149 as it sits now (146-7)... but man it gets rowdy as heck and sounds great to boot... LOL!.. I'll probably leave it alone for awhile until I do a BIG ported 45-50 hz burp box (+120 in2 ported)... boy it sounds great now... for awhile the neighbors got a break (the burp wasn't really low tuned so I never really listened to it) but as I just put it back... the neighbors just got a taste again... hehehe...

I haven't read the entire thread, only the last few pages, but...

Why not build a box using a aero port(s)?

Far easier to tune. Can possibly use a single box for the meter and daily (by adjusting port length).

That's what I do with my setup. Same box for daily and metering. 6 inch daily, 8 inch for the meter.

No more spending... remember?.. I'm currently trading something to my son so he will pay for the wood/glue... I'm trading a 1996 Rockford Fosgate Punch Power 50X2 for some wood... LOL!.. at least it's still in the family... I thought about making a couple of 6" aeros and doing about 5ft3 net ported and tuning it at 50 hz... but I will see how motivated I feel once I get a sheet of wood... AARGH!.. I know where my heat gun is... buried in the closet... Double AARGH!.. If I do 4/4" aeros in a smaller box I'll really be a busy man...
