Burp box...

This is it... The FINAL slot port box... I'm going to try a last theory and go HUGE port area... (121 in2)... the EVL's are not stiff as I'd like in the suspension but I am hoping that at a narrow frequency... 48-55 hz the subs will hang... efficiency is what I'm after... I had to go a little big airspace-wise to keep the port simple and I am hoping the port area raises efficiency enough as I am not using aeros... anyways... this is what I have come up with... I'm cutting wood Thursday so I thought I'd post it looking for any tips or whatever BEFORE I begin... this is a full out burp box... no music will be played unless I KNOW the frequencies... I'll probably set the SSF at +40 hz and only play tones... Thanks... BTW... the power I inputted is a 1500 watt increase over the last one... LOL!.. it's a pipe dream I'm sure... I'll see if I get an increase...

I bought Skar coax... 4x6 & 6.5's... https://www.skaraudio.com/collections/tx-series ... the amp is a Rockford 500S 2 channel... the door treatment made the biggest difference... I stripped the interior bare and used 1/8" wood and GTMat Liquidamp with aluminum tape to seal and deaden the doors... and foam, aluminum tape and Liquidamp for the roof and pillars/tailgate... I'm pleased with how quiet it is inside and it sounds good in and out almost no rattles...

Those speakers may not keep up with your music. I ripped mine out(stock 4x6 and very blown Infiniti 6.5" spkrs) and about to install a 6.5" comp in my s10. And I need to go buy some wood too...gotta enclosure to build.

I haven't read the entire thread, only the last few pages, but...
Why not build a box using a aero port(s)?

Far easier to tune. Can possibly use a single box for the meter and daily (by adjusting port length).

That's what I do with my setup. Same box for daily and metering. 6 inch daily, 8 inch for the meter.
doesnt work that way. You arent gonna meter louder just because you have a bigger port tuned higher. The box size needs to adjust to your port area as well as your tuning. Got a few people doing that with pure garbage results in last year's bass season. A box cannot function both spl and daily purely due to the airspace which needs to adjust accordingly for each purposes. There's a reason why burp boxes are small tiny boxes with high port area and not giant high airspace enclosures. Big airspace and big port did the worse from all my personal experiments.

you might want to check cone excursion tab man. After a certain point, you start losing a lot of cone control and lose all output and it wont even function as a burp box anymore it'll work like if the sub is ran in Infinite Baffle. No pressure build up in the box along with sloppy cone control can make you lose everything along with damaging subs. My big airspace and high port area box the subs stank immediately and the output was slightly better than what my door speakers pumped out....

Copy that... I'll take a look..

I did take about 2 weeks modeling different sized airspace/port combos before settling on this one... I just checked excursion... looks OK for the frequencies I want... you do know that this is not a daily box... correct? @Jeffdachef

Oh man... you really should hear this setup with the demo box... here is a quote from a different thread...

The MAX/RMS rating is not even important to me... the weight, sound and build quality matters more... they currently are blending very well with my current setup and I'm happy... I have 500 watts of Rockford power available but who knows where the amp is set at... LOL!.. the highs are LOUD to me with very strong Mid-bass as my doors are sealed/dampened well... the sound is pleasant as well... not too bright for me as I AM picky... I run all Equalization flat and crossover the highs at 60 hz... I've got a pretty strong amp on them and they hang well as long as I do not get too stupid (full volume for 20 minutes)... I have 6.5's in the doors and 4x6's in the dash... it is not perfect but I'm happy... BTW... it's blending with 2 CAB's strapped at 1 ohm currently in a 30 hz box (146-7 db)... they do all right IMO...

It sounds good and those Skars do OK...

yes i know its not a daily box. Winisd lies to you with that peak. Mines had a nice peak too I thought it would at least play one note strong but nothing it just flat out became like if i was testing the woofers free air, there wasn't a single loud frequency at all no pressure was built up for anything. Just letting you know mine and several other's experiences with big airspace high port area burp boxes. Neither were successful. Only successful ones were the ones with much smaller airspace and high port area.

btw you've cut off the frequency so i dont know what your range is.

x-over highs at 60Hz??? Jeff does that sound normal?
The 6.5's hang with that x-over point, it may be at 65 hz I really don't remember (I just reset for sound quality it as the burp box came out)... the 4x6's are bass blocked as well at 120hz in addition to the amp x-over... the subs are at 50 hz or so... it plays music great and sounds good pretty much all the way up... I love live rock at full volume with this setup... IDK... I had some concerns when I set it up but everyone who has demoed it has been impressed/surprised by the way they hang as well... they perform well... you asked

Here it is with a slightly smaller area and less volume... I already increased to 87 in2 and gained over 68 in2... I just am looking for efficiency..

the input power I used is a wish I know... so I kept the port velocity right at the limit...

Alright.....what matters is you like it. I just read that 4x6 and 6.5 coax speakers aren't ideal for high power audio but you managed to overcome that and found a way to make them sound good. I'm still messing with mine lol it's not easy to do.

Should I go under 4ft3 net?... I shrunk it to that volume above... ^^^^^

I used to have an active 2 way component set in the kicks years ago... Those sounded REALLY good... but these get pretty close...
