*shakes head* you don't get it? the point is that if he was NOT using the sealed box, all of the following wouldn't have happened because there would have been more output. that's the root of the situation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifIsn't it possible that with a 4v input (or is it still 6.5 on an 8600?) that he clipped his output signal with his amp gain halfway up? The gain knob is not a volume knob my friend.
To respond to stones-
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, by turning up his amp and bass boost on his deck he did not send simply more power to his speakers, he also ended up clipping the output which is what blew the speakers. I fail to see how you can even think that a clean 500watts would fry a coil on type-r simply because the box was sealed.
I'm sorry, but I don't agree with that. He should have known not to just turn up his gain to get more bass, but rather to change out the box or get a bigger amp. You can't say that his decision to get a sealed box directly caused his subs to blow.*shakes head* you don't get it? the point is that if he was NOT using the sealed box, all of the following wouldn't have happened because there would have been more output. that's the root of the situation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
should have? sure, i agree with that %110. did he? apparently not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifI'm sorry, but I don't agree with that. thats why i was sending 3kw to a 15" type-r and it didnt blow but if it wouldve been a clipped signal it wouldve been toast in seconds? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gifLets review--Clipping does not destroy voice coils, too much power does.
