//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif stop being a douche then think about what you're saying. your argument is the guns don't kill people; people kill people angle. you know full and well (as polecat even agreed with) that he wanted more output and then proceeded to blow his speakers. **** you people are dense...
all I stated is that the gains/bass boost probably killed the subs, so, in theory, the box (being sealed over ported) and amp (has them dang knobs that are so cool) and the user (someone had to turn the knobs) is a total package of what killed the subs...not pointing really to one thing, more as an overall, per 'se //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lets review the whole point of this forum.

To exchange ideas and information on car audio and to help those just starting out.

In this situation we have someone who has just burned up his woofers.

And the information he needs to know is why did this happen and how to avoid it in the future.

The woofers in question are the ever so popular Alpine type R's

Why did this happen?

He put them in an enclosure that did not allow the subs to perform to his satisfaction, without realizing this he compensated by driving the speakers with more power then they could handle and ending up damaging the coils.

How to avoid this in the future?

Place the subs in an enclosure that will allow them to perform much better without the need to overdrive them.

If you argue this you deserve to have the gay slapped out of you, then have R.Kelly roll up and piss on your face.

Now if you will excuse me i need to shake some sand out of my ******.

I agree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
eh, see I dont know about that.

Not to underestimate the thread starter, but, in my experience, most people who blow subs in daily drivers tend to think their subs are never loud enough. I doubt that if he was running ported and it was a bit louder, that he would say "that sounds loud enough" and leave the volume alone. But who knows...
