Building the top notch SQ system

Yeah, it's kind of hard to know where you're going if you've never been there. Reading about sound stage is one thing, implementing is another. Since you've got time, see what you can listen to so you know the goal. I've been doing everything largely from reading papers, reviews, forums, and trial/error. I've met a few guys from the forum here and that's a great asset to have.
Buddy of mine wants to hit up the local audio comp one of these weekends, I need to go. My problem is that everyone i meet into speakers are SPL guys not so much SQ. Louder louder louder, and I'm clearer louder clearer lol.

My car really bothers me too. Door panels shaking. I actually found my most recent vibration in the sun glasses holder. I shoved a tree in there for now, its stopped the vibration, but its a pain to open and close it now.

Decoupling is tough. You'll need to take everything out that's making noise and go through it piece by piece. I'm also not sure how much longer I'll have my car, so I haven't done it...though it's not really bad.

remember, june 20th Angel stadium SQ competition.

So I'm pretty sure I'm losing my mind.

I want to get the most out of my system. But IDK if I should do it to this car or wait until the next? Its all so confusing and discouraging. I'm going to really need to wrap my head around this. Hear so top quality systems, and see where I stand. I'd eventually like to get to the point that I could compete in SQL, I just need to hear some things. See something, understand what I'm doing a little better.

Thanks all for the info and links. I'll be around reading a learning more. Hopefully, I'll pick up one this like I do most other things and grasp a firm understanding of rating and how to set up things properly.

Also, I've done so googling and I'm having trouble finding the info I'm looking for. Anyone have a link to what exactly all the rating of the speaker mean? And what ratings I should be looking at for SQ?

That's not flaming. I have great stuff and a great sound stage, just lack point of reference because I just haven't heard many quality systems. You're filled with empty statements and maturity of a teenager. Care to make any more statements without ever having heard my car? Just because I've asked for advice about PS8 means I don't know how to use it? Do you even know what the learning curve for that thing is? Why don't you put that arrogant brain of yours to work and offer something of substance. I've been respectful to you so far, though it's been hard, but if you're trying to do word play with me, you're fighting a losing battle and we can start filling people's threads with pages of garbage.
So you bought nice stuff, spent weeks trying to get the MS-8 right and now you're the SQ god? You're 34? Start acting like it all the time, not just when your wife's watching.
No but I've been doing this for a little while. Studied till my eyes bleed, heard as many top level builds as possible. I had the same learning curve with the Bit one.

I would like to hear what you consider a stage. I doubt its as good as you think it is. Running passive will hinder your results.

yeah that was meant for marlin lol. We both in california.
I'd be down to going if I could come up with some solution to attach a jet engine and some wings to my car lol. Just got back from PA yesterday. I hate driving now. Was a good test to see how stable everything was. No amps over heating or cutting off for a full 9 hour drive, not to many breaks other than rest stops and food, and cranked 25-38 outta 40 the whole way.

So I hear. Chicago traffic is no walk in the park either. I don't go that way too often though. QC traffic will p*ss you off because it is normal to drive 5 UNDER the speed limit. Where I'm from if the speed limit is 50, it means its really 55.

when its clear here, if it says 65, ppl go 80-100. However when traffic hits = bumper to bumper, sometimes its bad enough to only go 1 mile per hour. Literally can grandma walk faster than you can drive on the freeway when construction hits. You also got the super slow drivers hogging the fast lanes. They dont realize going 45 miles per hour when everyone is going 70+ is dangerous...

What's the point in speculating anyway? Fail to see the issue. Our setups are very similar...only difference is you run off stock HU, have less sub and power, and have a DSP that does the tuning for you.

Look at what you're trying to flame me for...being in the same boat as you when you were learning the bit one? I've been in and out of the manual, reading tips, asking questions, trying out different settings.

You always say "can't polish a turd" and you bought nice stuff. I also bought nice stuff...what's wrong with that?

Have you ever ran it on a RTA? Getting the curve right will lead to a better stage. You are going to have a hard time getting TA right running passive. When you move the tweeter you move the mid.
