Building system in my suburban

Decatur---nice city----LOLI wouldnt call it that,

Especially lately, cops are out so thick its rediculous,

There for a month they had road side pull overs and hella people where getting dui's - I got one myself.

So now Im building my system while I have no L.

We have several drive up liquor stores, which one you talking about?

Probablly the one on eldo, its there.

Anyway....

I have all the tools in my garage to make my own box. And have always built my own to save money and to build them how I want them.

I may go with the 2 AQ 18's

Those $35 hifonics look ok- but will they last?, hows there sound quality.

I wonder If 10-12 of them would sound better than the 2 AQ 18's ???
I believe that's the one. All I know it was close to this club we used to go to on Saturday nights. We thought we ran the joint......lol. The city was shit though, but we made the most of it. It was a break from the Chicago life. And don't talk about cops. Here one beat the shit out of a female bartender while off duty and walked. 2 years probation.

2 HDC3 18s and a 3500D would cost like 1300ish. Not sure of shipping costs for the subs. I think the amp ships free. Then you can take the remaining and build the box and do your electrical upgrades. Any Welding supply stores down there? You could buy your wire from them.

"Any Welding supply stores down there? You could buy your wire from them."

HAHA- I am a welder and get my companies discount-LOL

thanks for the idea- I dont know why I never thought of that...

I have a 20ft ground cable at work in my toolbox, its copper very fine braided wire- Dont know what gauge --Its thicker than my thumb!!

I guess I could Use it for upgrading the big 3 power/ground cables under my hood.

And try to find another to run to the back of my truck to the second battery.

Those **** 35$ hifonics now got me thinking about taking out my 3rd seat and building a F'ing colossal *** wall on each side with like 6 12's on each side.

I cant believe that a $35 sub can be suggested as being good, subs must have came along way in the 10 years ive been out of the sound game.

How would I power a shitload of these subs? would one or two big amps be better or several mid/small amps???

If it was me Id use 1 amp. Alot easier.

The idea behind the multiple budget subs is that you count on the shear amount of subs/cone area to get loud and don't have to use a ton of power or push them very hard.

Same principle with my tweeter arrays. I have (8) $4 tweeters per side with an RMS of 7watts and they get pretty **** loud, but also sound quite good since I don't have to push them into distortion.

I still like the 4 15" SDC's idea tuned to 35Hz for a low end monster...

Would be louder, whether they will last is dependent on you.

36" tall but would like to keep them mounted on the floor facing up- so I can still see out of the back,

also - I am being told on another forum by several members that 12 poopy 12's will not be near 2 AQ 18's.

Need to decide on something so I can get planning to order.

They apparently do not know what they are talking about:rolleyes: And who said these are "poopy" subs? Because of the price? Plenty of good budget subs out there, these being one. 12 12"s has a certain shock factor that 2 18"s could never bring.

Im guessing the people downtalking these subs have:

1) Never heard/used these subs.

2) Only read forums, where everyone runs 1 or 2 18s with alot of power each.

3) Has no experience with groundpounder systems.

You should be able to fit 16 ported below the windowline.

16-WOW, If I took out the stupid compartment for a jack and spare tire there would probablly be another 8" Width.

I really dont want to go over 12 of them. I might even stick to 8 or ten, need to think about it some more.

Thanks for all the help - I appreciate it!

I say go for the 12s. 18s are just ..played out. Not saying they arent good or anything just everyone has 18s now days. I wish I could throw 8-10 12s in my truck but after displacement I dont have any room >.

If you end up fitting 16 in there it'll def be a head turner both inside and out.

x2 People need to stop associating pricetag with performance. Thats like saying JL is better than Audioque just becuz its more expensive..But id prob never run JL over AQ unless it was given to me free.
