breaking cones?

9515i. The series before they went to the bigger coils. After I get 15kw they won't be able to handle the power in 7.5 per driver..
I wonder when they got away from tight gap? The older ones I've rebuilt were very tight gap, almost as snug as my neos, not quite as tight as '05 Sig.

and having a box too big hurts output because it starts to unload like it's freeair.
So you're saying if your cone is moving 20mm with 5000W in a 5 cube box it's going to be louder than the cone moving 20mm off of 2000W in an 8 cube box? What does the modeling predict? There should be a point where adding box volume gains significantly then you hit a plateau where you don't get much else for going larger.

Displacement is the same with all over th things being equal they will be the same.

Fact of the matter is once you reacjthe point of elasticity and damping the driver isn't ideal at said power you will loose output. It's not like in running 2 18s in 10 cubes. It's 13.8 with 287in^2. I could drop it to 210 and get 14.4. But then I loose 50 plus and gain from 28 to 40..

I still call complete bullshit. This fool isn't breaking cones.
beaumont tx

one is abit softer

i'm about to put more than likely 2 taramp MD8ks on them. i might recone them and grab a bigger korean at .33 kevlar of course

That's not cone breakage fool. That's the surround separating from the cone.

no **** the cone is soft right here. there is no way to capture it *** clown.
Probably from it beating against the loose surround. That is totally unacceptable and I'd be contacting DD or whoever sold you those recones. That glue should never fail.

i tried. they said that i should upgrade and give them 750 for new recones. that's why i'm border line about to dump them and grab some omegas.

its possible. my friend noticed it honestly. i feel a groove so to speak. the camera won't pick it up. i don't know if its a void between the fibers or what but its odd.. i don't feel like pulling them out to show some morons some pics. im done arguing with people here because none of them putup.

Implying if they can't glue the surround to pulp they'll get it right glued to composite. Absolutely inexcusable place for a cone to fail.

Soft spot on a cone won't hurt anything though. I've done it from rough handling. If you're worried just reinforce it with a couple square inch piece of fiberglass mat.
