fords are the worst some of them in the mid 90's to 2002 have upto 7 dif wiring schemes....real PITA when doing alarms lolz

That's exactly how i installed my new head unit today...just clipped the old wires and butt-connected those bad boys. works perfect.

if the wires form my truck are going to the correct wires on the deck shouldn't that work? i will go get a wiring harness but i dont see how it will fix the issue.

Your harness is just as good as buying one. I would recommend soldering the joints and using shrink insulation as well. If you have the proper wire matching, you will be good.
