Why?

What model have you used personally and what specific problems did you have?

The problem I find with lower end equipment is that they are not built well enough to deal with stupid people. You can beat up high end stuff where you have to take a bit better care of the low end stuff to not damage it.

a buddy of mine purchased a set of D125DVC's, 12's running on 1200 watts. He asked me to recomend him an amp, i suggested a crunch usa V600 amp, basically top quality, and after he had it installed he was very unsatisfied. He told me they were no louder than home audio subs. I never heard them but from what he explained they were shit, a waste of money. I recommend you stick with a high brand such as JBL or JL. Personally I would go with JBL. If you said no more than 400$ than i think you'll be very satisfied with their products.

JL does make a great shallow sub, but its way too expensive for the OP's budget. There are plenty of other brands that would fit his needs better.

just bought 4 of these for my 89 silverado got the box built this weekend and installing everything next weekend ill let you know how it sounds
