bgowdy's future plan vehicle/build

I agree however the redline 700 and 800 aren't bad subs either. I've heard they're like upgraded HDC 3 / 4s respectively
For many people, yes those may be a great budget option. I don't want "budget" in any of my vehicles though. If I'm going small, it would be one 3512

what size box do you have now? Seems like you should have been louder
Around 7.5 I believe. I agree to me it sounds louder than 146 but that's what the mic said, that was on my old amp rising to almost 4 ohms so for the wattage it was getting im not to mad.

oh so it wasnt the CT. lol damn how big a box does the sub need then?

I spoke with IA and they said anywhere from 7-10. People on here are telling me to do 15 cubes, some people on Facebook are saying 8-10 lol.

idk i would like to try them but still dont really want to spend the extra money on not be impressed lol. Theres a difference when spending on somthing and not being impressed then when you go cheap and not impressed lol....

Good for him though, but you know as well as anyone that no amp performs the same in all setups. To many variables to involve. In that case yes the ABs must have made more power, and likely more efficient. Where were the ABs wire to? Also the ABs do more then rated, they are rated 6500 at 1ohm I believe so who knows how much power they were making.
But either way doesn't make the other amp bad. If the Soundstream s were wire to 1 ohm they are rated 2500 each. The ABs make more power at 1 ohm
Tell yourself whatever you like about those Soundstream amps, but you know if you hit the lottery tomorrow you'd throw it in the dumpster and buy something good. I've had the misfortune of buying a couple of their products... what happened to that brand is the single biggest disappointment in car audio from what they were to what they are... for this I will never forgive them and would tell people I care about to avoid them at all costs.

I've seen 2 brand new DD Z amps fry at a show before, first burp in the lanes. Anything can fail.Is this going somewhere or should I start a pot of tea ?
DD-Z was virtually identical to Hifonics Sampson XXV which is a notoriously unreliable board. Notice they didn't make that model for long?

Never seen those, can't comment. I definitely wouldn't consider paying DD prices for one of their low-end stamped frame subs though.

you really have peaked my interest with this though. I cant say id want to spend this much. However what do you think about the Death Penalty 21"
DP is a good platform, but I don't think it would like 3K.... then again my idea of power handling is a constant source of debate Pretty sure the Judge is 4" coil which can generally hang with closer to 3K is why I even mentioned single sub. Single sub with anything less than a chunky 4" coil and you'll always be turning it down when things get stinky... particularly with a big sub that doesn't move so much restricting cooling.

Same cone area as 2 round 15's I believe so you'd be looking at 8-10 cube to do one right.

That said, if you can find a good 4" coil motor and buy 21" frame and cone you could probably build something yourself for under 600. I'd strongly consider it for 3KW build if you wanted to be different.

but this is $799 not on sale. Thats a bit high for me and i dont have the money to get it for $599 right now
You really screwed the pooch not buying it at the sale price. That was a great value.

calm down. im not telling myselff anything at all, im going off exp from everyone else ive talked to thats ran them, hell T-fade even said they are decent. of course i would if i hit the lottery. i mean i did get promoted at work and received nice size raise but still dont like spending money lol. i never once said that this is the greatest amp ever or that i have owned by any means. im saying its a good "budget" amp that does what it says it will, nothing more.

though you have curved me to look at these 21's but the sale is about over and i dont have money right now but im definately looking at them now.

I agree. The 700 and 800 aren't in that boat but as far as a 500-2500 and 600 and lower redlines, I probably would not use them unless I got a good price from a dealer that compared to other subs in their category. Which, I'm sure you know, their actual prices actually aren't as bad as people think after seeing the MSRP on their site.

Personally I would do 2 15s. But I'm a little biased towards 2 15s setups...
i like single sub setups but ive never done a 4-12/2-18 build and thats why it has most of my interest. 2 15s is the most cone area ive done. Also i like the challenge of making something cheap meter decently. Hence i didnt set a outrageous goal for it. I said a 148 would make me happy lol. I dont see any reason that couldnt be achieved with say 4 hds2 12s and 3k for example. i seen vids of ppl doing 146s with 2 of those same subs
