Battery voltage 11.9 - 12.0, car still starts? WTF?

I just had the battery checked last week at Autozone. They said it was fine. It is a marine battery but they said it makes no difference. I'm totally amazed my car is still starting with 11.6 volts in the battery. I did everything right. Big 3 done with 2/0 gauge, lead free soldered, grounds sanded, stock wires left alone, pure cooper terminals, etc.

yeah see that whats weird, the car shouldnt start at 11.6 volts. Makes me think that you're not getting an accurate reading for some reason. only thing i could possibly think it could be.

That is what I first thought too. Then I tried my DMM on 3 other car batteries and then read normal. Maybe I have a bad ground? I crimped and soldered everything... I can't possibly have a loose connection can I?

When you are reading your voltage, are you connecting your dmm directly to the battery post?

OP, you are an idiot. The starter will turn over with as little as 9-10volts.............as long as there is adequate amperage supplied. Go have the charging system checked dumbazz.

hey my truck has the same problem, i have 4 batteries with a 300 alt and is reading around 11.0v with the truck on its about 12.3v idk wtf is going on!
