battery or altenator???

New battery won't do much for you, when your car is running all the amps are drawn from the Alternator. Big 3 would be the first thing to do then if you are still seeing voltage drops you'll need a HO Alternator.

how many amps is you stock Alt? and how many watts for your system?

 
Big three in the engine bay... (make very good grounds).

im not sure on the alt. specs....my amp is a jbl 1200.1 pushing a 12' alpine xtype
Those Jbl's are power hogz. I hooked my friends JBL up to my system to see if it worked, and every single light in and on my car dimmed like a theater just b4 the movie. I hooked my Brutus 1500D back up, and no problems. Only minor dimming at stop lights.

Btw yall, what exactly is the big 3? I have 4 guage power and ground, what other wires need to be bigger?

 
If my current alt is 100 amps and I am installing a Hifonics BX1500D would I need a high output alt?. I hooked up a JL 500/1 and I had a horrible dimming problem.
I have a stock 125a alternator, and I only get minor dimming at stop lights, and no problems in the day time. I'd say if a 500 watt amp dimmed your lights, an amp that puts out approximately 3 times more than that will definately be worse. Don't ya think so?

 
What is the typical size guage wire that is going from alternator to battery in a stock electrical system?

And is that it, just upgrade the wire from the battery to the alt?
