AQ HDC3 12" vs Type-r

What will get louder in a 2 cube box @ 32hz, a type-r @ 850w rms or HDC3 @ 1300w rms?

32hz is too low for the AQ IMO, but i'm leaning towards the AQ although I'd give it more power.

i'd say the hdc3 but thats jus mean since it has more power on it

the aq wants more power but it will do okay on 1300 in the right box. they do okay with the lows but the lowest you want to tune the aq is to like 37. mine tuned to 38 hit the lows pretty good for the tuning

Louder on the mic? The AQ, but only if you raise the tuning as said. Louder to your ear? The R. Honestly, they are not comparable subwoofers at all.

if you can only feed the HDC3 1300rms, i'de get the type-R setup

for a budget setup id get the type R, put it in a 2.5-3 cu ft enclosure n put bout 1000-1300 true clean rms watts to it from a good amp(zx1500.1)

all day long the aq will get louder. 450 more watts than the type r. the aq is geared towards flat out getting loud compared to the type r. there is no comparison. do some research and you will see. I hit a 138.7 off one aq hdc3 12 in a honda accord 2002 off a single elemental designs nine.1 (1200rms), 4 gauge wire and stock electrical. this was also db drag style and off music. get the aq bro

I've had both, and pushed both to the limits.

AQ cost twice as much as R for a reason.

R is a great beater sub no doubt, but just out classed here.

That being said, I'd bet they'd be close in this battle.

I'd tune AQ at least to 35ish, you can leave R there and it'll **** the lows.

AQ doesn't need low tuning too go down low.

That's my 2 cents.

How about this, get a SDC and run it off 800 watts. I've had both r's and sdc 12's and honestly the sdc's kicked the crap out of the r's in every way.

either set up has the potential to get loud. For a daily beater I'd take the AQ as every R set up I've heard has not sounded very good at all.

HDC and a 2200 would be a nice combo...but the R and 850watts would work also.

I have an HDC 10 sitting in my closet and I've designed probably 15-20 type-r enclosures. So yes, I do know.
