Building a box for a AQ HDC3 10 Sub

Its a L-Port with Double Baffle

1.44 cubes tuned to 38hz

Oh yeah 2" Port so it comes out to 23 inches^2 of Port area

I went to get spray paint for the port and got what I thought was black, turns out its charleston green what ever the **** that is, but I think it worked better then black. You be the judge.

Gotta Love the Titebond III //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Looking good. Next time if you got a router do a .25 in roundover on the end of the L.
Look forward to seeing this in action.
Yeah I was going to do 45s but Ive never done em before and I hate to experiment on customer boxes.

I never thought of the .25 round over, I do have a router but so far Ive only used it for cutting the sub hole. I need to pick up some more bits before I can do to much.

Also as you can see from the clamps I decided to use only glue and no screws. I might go back and add screws but from what I've always heard its really only the glue that matters.

Oh yeah and its a direct replacement for the customers own box that I guess he messed up a bit on so I'm looking forward to a before and after demo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Should be all finished tomorrow or sunday

Look at the beautiful double baffle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Going to cut the sub hole this afternoon (waiting for glue to dry) and then its done minus some finishing sanding. The customer didn't want any carpet.

I ended up using screws since the customer is putting around 2kw to the hdc so I figured it was best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Next time I would not paint the port before gluing it, glue does not stick to paint. Other than that looks good.
Yeah next time Ill probably tape off where the port is going to sit. Its just there is no easy way to get good coverage without painting it before you assemble it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Is it just me? Or does the top panel look arched? I'm hoping that's just the camera doing that trick on my eyes, because the top of the box looks ever so slightly like dome shape.

Its prolly the camera. All cameras have a convex lens, some just more than others. If this isnt the case. Something is wrong with you table saw. lol
Yeah it was level but what they are saying would mean the wood is bowed like I let it absorb water or something.

I didnt get any final pics cause we got it all installed and I didnt have my camera, Ill see if I can get mazda to post some, its a box for his friend.

x2 on taking the extra few minutes to tape off the top/bottom, so you're not gluing over paint. Glue is now bonded to the paint and not the wood and has little strength.

Also it looks like you did 16^2 per cube of port area, so you're tuned around 33Hz with that port length...

Steve should be happy as I heard his box didn't turn out so good.
