Another build, 18" HDC3 (SQ)

If this is for daily why are you tuning at 41hz again.. I have a single 21 in a cadillac SRX. I'm using passives so I can adjust my tuning on the fly. 40hz tuning def doesn't do great at 25-30hz region, although it's fine above that. Still not worth the tradeoff and a mid 30's tune is a much better compromise if you looking for boom in the 40's as well as good LFE.. (personally I tune around 25-30hz, but that's my preference)
If you want loud on a meter 45hz is where you'd want to tune at most likely give or take a bit as small SUV's do seem to peak near 50hz. I know tuned at 45hz I honestly didn't hear that much of a difference, but my roof sure felt it as my rear lights fell out of my headliner where they would normally just flex a bunch and bounce.. Cleary it's louder, but it doesn't sound like much more to the old ear o meter and I lacked the air movement on the low low stuff lol.
damm! if only you had commented in the beginning of this build I would have probably tuned it around 35 36.. I love my lows! and have always built low tuned boxes (28 -30) this is my first box above 30hz, Since I had no experience tuning high I said f*** it might as well try and see, but no iI'm regretting it.

btw. I did hear that since this sub is an 18 I could tune the box a little higher and the sub will still pick up the low notes if thie box was big enough..

here is where im at today almost done!

what is port area per net cube? Seems kinda small, but hard to tell from a pic.

If it's 16-18^2 per cube you can always do a port reducer to shrink size/lower tuning. Not idea but will work if you wann play low stuff with a lot of power...

That was my first question too! Judging by those magazines next to his port, it that's more than 4inches wide I would be suprised. A dollar bill is 6inches long for reference and it barely seems to be more than half that.. At least from pics. No way that's enough slot area, even if the area works out, it's going to be too tall and skinny, which still leads to noise.

hmmmm just hmmm with this build, i do like all the pretty pics tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

OK like an idiot i didn't check to confirm the port size. The 5" wide i said earlier was from the original drawing plans I had and just guessed, but the actual measured is 3.5 wide, 17" tall, and 13.75 in deep. The box is 5.6-5.7 cubes which is perfect because that drops the tuning to about 38hz, not too bad I think for the lows. I post a video once Im done which shouldn't be too long here are some more updates:
