Hello everyone, Although I've participated in forums before I want to create a build log where I post all the pics and try to get suggestions for this build. So I have a single SoundCubed hdc318 dual 2ohm sub. Powered by an AudioPipe APSM2000.1. Big three and second battery (regular car battery).

So here is my CURRENT box:

I have 2 6[/IMG]

box tuning is kinda low for SPL/metering. although I don't know where your vehicle peaks.

Could try going bigger since you don't have a lot of power. Slot port with 20^2 per cube. I prefer sub up/port back but have made both ways work...

Completely off topic. Im not 100% on this, but I don't think that battery should be inside your vehicle. It could possibly vent toxic gases into the cabin. Can someone else confirm this?

lol, it could if it was a acid batt. with a leak.... most car audio uses agm batts...

I don't think it is agm, not sure tho.

So your saying a slot port would be better? This was my first aero port box and 18" sub as well so I'm still trying to learn how it works.

Yes a unselaed lead acid battery will vent H2S gas when charging. Which is toxic at 10 parts per million and will kill at less then 1000, I work in refineries that produce H2s as well as other deadly gases so I know a lot about them.

But back to your set up, what vehicle is it that this is going into? The pictures look like a ford escape or explorer.. A smaller SUV.. Which usually peak around 47/53 hz. I got my explorer up to a 155 and an invite to world finals, if that's what you have..., I tuned it to 42hz went four 12" subs up and slot port back.

yep the batt needs to be in a sealed box vented outside the vehicle.

what about the batts that come stock in the trunk like that? my batt comes stock in the trunk, without sealed compartment......

my 2005 has a wetcell in trunk without being sealed..... came stock and was replaced with same stock batt.....
Well the few i have had all had agms but really in the trunk it is vented to the outside and the ac system is a positively charged system so in theory as long as the ac is running it would push the air towards the vent in the rear of the trunk thus keeping the fumes away from the driver.

the guy that said 10ppm of h2s was dangerous is partly right you temporarily lose you sense of smell at 100ppm you have headaches trouble breathing etc at 500ppm you pass out in less the 5mins and your respiratory track starts failing. 1000ppm is almost instant death from total organ failure.

in a car you likely wont get 10ppm unless you are standing by the exhaust. But in the long term the low doses of h2s could hinder yoir ability to smell and you ability to breath efficiently.

in the end it is better the have wet cells mounted outside the cabin even though they are not immediately dangerous to life and limb

this is tripping me out, lol my car eats agm's, they all die within a month, I've ran through 2 yellow tops and a diehard platinum agm.... they just die and get internal failure codes, which is why I went back to wetcell bats, they do got a vent hose hooked to it.....

See most of my failures accure with wet cells
