Amp not putting out what it should? plz help

really sounds like a possible issue in the output stage of the amp at this point ....

btw, have you measured voltage at your RCA's yet?? Sorry if you have and I missed it ...

I didn't today. Had limited time. I did throw in a brand new Kenwood and nice pair of RCA. Higher end Kenwood,rated for 4v pre out.

Man, if.this amp happens to also be busted , im gonna come unglued

How did the JL smoke? And I think they will fix it cheaper than buying a new amp. I wish I'd kept mine

been there, had a guy swap boards on me on a MMATS amp off of ebay a month or so back. Bought a HC amp, he swapped in a standard board. Thought I'd never notice .... That's the diff between 600 and 1700 w rms .....

And then a few weeks later, I buy a Kenwood 1023 for a boat load of $$$ and it's got a bad input pcb when it gets here ....then the 823 I buy to go with it, has a bad solder joint in it too ....

So, I feel ya, F'n aggravating ......

been there, had a guy swap boards on me on a MMATS amp off of ebay a month or so back. Bought a HC amp, he swapped in a standard board. Thought I'd never notice .... That's the diff between 600 and 1700 w rms .....

This amp came in the original box brand new in plastic, if this.guy did a board swap on me, he did it.very very well. No marks.or tamper evidence on the screws. And most definitely is a brand new never mounted or touched case and everything else. Sure looks brand spanking new.

Gosh, so frustrating. But the fact i returned the last m3b i bought for the exact same lack of output problem seriously makes me think theres something else.going on here

Just a question.... Did you ever happen to pull the rca wires while amp was on or even switch to other rca while on?

Thinking its not the amp. Try the subwoofer wiring with direct connections. or switch to series or wire out of phase. Also clamp it free air to see if there's any difference.

No idea man. Was giving a demo and everything just shut off. Wont turn on. Board looks fine

Thinking its not the amp. Try the subwoofer wiring with direct connections. or switch to series or wire out of phase. Also clamp it free air to see if there's any difference.

Ok, as in direct connection just do a twist +tape?

Switching to series will put me up at a real high impedance though?

And free air. Cool. Ill give this all a try today.

K jeff i pulled out a woofer and did a free air test.

Failed. Plenty of voltage, bairly any amperage. Impedance rise according to standard method was 13.

Tried out of phase too.

I guess only thing left before calling this Amp done is to find someone with big electrical to run it real quick. Maybe theres something funny holding back the amp in my truck. Hard to believe. Not a happy camper

i would be willing to help. i would test it if you like. i have the system for it.

ya thats what i would do first, that way you can be there to hear it. but if you cant find anybody offer stands.. hope it works out for ya. it would **** if it was the amp.
