Amp not putting out what it should? plz help

Welcome to the life of complete and utter bad luck you my friend had to be an ******* when you were younger to have this karma. Thats what i tell myself atleast to make me feel better about my bad luck with cars haha

Hope you get it squared away man but seriously the swapping amos is a good idea and getting it bench tested. Gotgixers is a cool dude that can do that if hes willing to and your willing to ship to him

Thanks Martin .... I would gladly bench an amp and give true results. But I am betting FML could find someone local to do an honest bench test. At least I would hope so ... If not, feel free to PM me FML ...

Ill try to touch base on everyone's replies.

Only extra amp I have is somthing a ton smaller so testing it wouldnt do much.

Also, no shop in my area has the proper gear to do any tests other then powering on/off.

Additionally, theres only a handful of us that run big systems where im at, trying to get someone to let me throw it in their vehicle for me.

So trust me, especially gotgixers iv either thought of, are have already done the obvious. Im not an idiot, i wouldn't be on here wasting mine and yours time if i hadn't already done everything i know how to do.

It's the 2nd amp that's had the same issue. It's not the amp imo especially if it's a DD....Go into a little more detail about your electrical please. Your sig says 0 gauge Big 3, 0 gauge front to back //Mechman 270 is that all installed?

Do the RCA to auxillary jack with the phone test man, play a strong bass song, phone volume max and set gains from there, you should at least get full output from the amp still with proper settings. If its still stuck at the maximal output/loudness then its either something wrong with the amp or you need to change something else in your setup like box orientation/placement or check your sub's wiring to see if there is any phase issues going on and maybe revese some polarity.

Yes that's all current.

I honestly dont think grounds could be better. Amp grounds go into a grounding block thats bolted to the floor sheet metal which was previously grinded down to bare metal, then underneath my truck i have 2 leads , 1 coming off.each bolt holding down the ground block that both go about 7 inches then bolted.to the actual frame, which is also ground down to nice shiny metal.

Id honestly maybe think it was electrical related except for the fact my voltage stays solid. If i dropped below 12 at any point (especially during a clamp test burp) and adding a bit of box.rise then yeah, but under 1000 watts? Thats terrible.

Unless i have it all wrong and my voltage can stay solid 14v and still have current blockage somewhere? Im sooo lost

Play it with no subs hooked up and watch the DMM.

Music and you are watching for the reading to jump around and hopefully climb higher than you have seen it.
Well, voltage seemed to be find, it was the amperage that seemed to be lacking

But yes thank you. I will try all suggestions here in a bit

K quick update. Only had 45 mins to run a few tests.

Kept volume at 27 (just a spot i picked before clipping with the 40hz -2.5dB tone i was using), and kept everything the same for the following tests.

I left everything else the same. Just unplugged speaker cables from the amp and used meter only.

First run, was 65 volts.

Next, unplugged RCA's from amp, put in RCA to phone cable. Only got around 30 volts

Then, i pulled out my HU, and ran a new/different set of RCA's from it to the amp, was a big difference in voltage. All of a sudden (at some volume, same settings, same test tone) i got 87 volts and had to immediately turn it all down because was clipping like a mofo at that point.

And thats where I stopped. So, im praying it was just RCA's. The original pair was fairly new, but that apparently doesnt mean anything. When I get off work im going to Start back at square 1 with my tuning, get it set, and run another clamp.

Lets hope thats all she needed. ....

i told you to check rca. just because it new or you dont think its bad does not mean shittt.

and just because you think your ground is good does not mean it is..

get it... im not being mean. and that was one of the things i was thinking as you have or had 2 of the same amps do the same. well bad rca will do that.

so when something is not right, CHECK EVERYTHING.
