Those Cobra Mustangs are just bad! The Shelby Super Snake really gets me going.Take the sport of drifting for example
sure it is cool to watch this burn rubber

But seeing this is a hell of a lot cooler

Last I heard, a 2.0L Acura RSX type S is NOT turbocharged and can keep up with a 90s Camaro Z28. Less than half the engine. Oh snap!I think it's funny how all these people say "well xxxxx car can keep up with half the engine". What they neglect to mention is most of the time it requires a turbo running 15+ PSI.
What happens once you build a 8 cylinder up and then add on forced induction of some kind? It slaughters these cars that without turbos would still just be another slow 4cyl. That song comes to mind "anything you can do I can do better" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
*waits for the tuner fanboys to bring up the infamous "well in the canyons" argument*
Muscle ftw.
Are you just referring to 0-60 times and quarter mile times when you say "that can keep up with sti/evo/350z?" As far as that goes that's any car that can do 0-60 in 5 flat and a quarter around 13.6 seconds. A cobalt SS can run a 5.9 and a 13.9 quarter and its about 20 grand cheaper than a Sti and a Z and 10 grand cheaper that a evo. Modern muscle car it is not, but it's pretty quick for 24 grand. I can't think of an American car with 300 horsepower that can beat them however I can name a couple for around 40 grand that will keep up and or beat them. Shelby GT500, Pontiac G8 GXP, Ford Mustang Bullit, and Dodge Challenger SRT8. I wouldn't even need to spend 40 grand to get my piece of shit 74 Chevy C10 to smoke all three of the cars you listed in a straight line. Maybe instead of comparing power output you should compare price. At least then you would have an accurate comparison and you might even look like you know what your talking about. Oh and if you need my sources for that information I've given, check the newest edition of Road and Track. It shouldn't matter if the are turbo or not as long as both cars being compared are stock. I would love for someone to show me a modern American v8 car with around 300hp keep up with an sti/evo/350z. If you can do it I will post pics my ***.
Edit: LOVE GNs
I understand where you are coming from but I asked for specific types of cars. I said modern American V8s with around 300hp. Yes I am mainly speaking of 0-60 time because the cars you listed are no where near "track" carsAre you just referring to 0-60 times and quarter mile times when you say "that can keep up with sti/evo/350z?" I stand corrected on one thing and that's prices. The prices I listed were "as tested prices". However I never said you need to have a big v-8 to build power. That's not the case at all. However, to go fast, it involves much more than raw power. Keep in mind that the "there's no replacement for displacement" rule is involved and is the most important factor as far as power goes. Sure you can do a ton of work to a 4 cylinder and make it put out 600HP but put the same work to a V-8 and you will far exceed 600HP.I understand where you are coming from but I asked for specific types of cars. Bullit - I'll give you that one since that is exactly what i asked for. It is not faster but can keep up.
GT500 - more power
G8 - more power
Challenger - more power
74 Chevy C10 - very modern
You named the cobalt ss which is not 20k less than any car I named. You can get the cars I named for around 30k. The new 370z starts at 29xxx, right? I remember when the new Evos came out, again, around 30k just like the STI. And the SS isn't a v8 so I don't know why you brought that one up. My whole point is that it doesn't take a big V8 to go fast. Thanks for helping me prove it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
