American bass vfl 200.1 keeps going into protect......

Do you think its a possibility that because I don't have the third bolt in that it's causing the amp to shut off because it's basically surging it during songs when they peak the highest....Please correct me if I'm wrong. And on my alternator I shouldn't have to buy any adapters correct because they said it's a factory bolt on but like I said i've got that gap where the bottom bolt goes. I'm going to research it some more and see why it's not lining up correctly

So I wasnt able to get the third bolt in on the "arm" that sticks out on the alternator casing that's supposed to attach to the engine block, but I did take a nut and bolt and attached the 4/0 ground from the alternator to the negative on my battery and it definitely made a difference, but it's still cutting out. I finally got a good multi meter yesterday, so I hooked up my clamp meter to the positive wire for my subs and I ended up with 39.47 for dc, and 75 for amperage, and it comes out to be 2960.25

I didn't realize that the third hole for the bolt has absolutely nothing to do with grounding the alternator.....I feel dumb now.....nevermind though, fu ck it, i'll just figure the sh it out on my own
