American bass vfl 200.1 keeps going into protect......

So u bought a 3k amp and don't know what hell to do smh.A dmm isn't exactly rocket science did u read what functions do what, or say screw it I have plenty of voltage and I don't need to know sht...

Since you can't or don't know how to read a dmm go buy a SMD DD-1. Its a idiot box with a light that will help you set gains properly. Also buy a volt meter ffs.....

I was using my clamp meter instead of a dmm....you don't have to be a prick about it.....sorry not everyone knows everything, thanks for the s h i t t y input.

I tired helping you but every time I asked for the voltage at the amp when it protects you never did it... Your starting voltage should be around 14v... And if your dropping to low you amp will cut out and go into protect.. Or you amp settings could be way wrong causing the amp to go into protect... Is everything turned to the right? Lol can you take a picture of your amp settings ? Are you sure your woofers are wired right?

I thought I was doing it right when you asked me to check it, sorry, I'll use my dmm this time, I assumed I could use my clamp meter, but I realized it doesnt have the same settings as a dmm. That was my fault. Yes I do know that my starting voltage should be around 14v. And no nothing is turned all the way to the right lol. I'm not 100% noob. I do know alot, I just get confused on reading a dmm. Yes I will take a picture of what I have it set at as of right now. Give me a few minutes and I'll upload it for you. And I'm 90% positive I have them wired right, I'll double check the wiring also and let you know shortly. Thank you massive spl for your input, I greatly appreciate you helping me.

The camera on my phone is messed up, It says my photos are corrupt. Anyways, my gain is set to just slightly over half, sub sonic is right around 25hz, bass boost is set to 0, LPF is at half, so right around 100, and phase is 0. It's like 33 degrees here and I can't pull my car into my garage to check my wiring so I'm going to hold off on that for a couple hours till it reaches 50 degrees lol. 33 is a little cold for me. They sound really quiet right now for some reason.

ill wait to hear what voltage is at but sounds to me like you dont have enough batteries. 3 optimas are like 165ah. You need double that with your alternator to run the vfl at .5

I was going to check my voltage earlier but one of the leads on my dmm were ripped off somehow, so I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow to buy another one....see that's what I was thinking...that I might need more batteries....Would a batcap 400 help me at all? I ask because I can get one for dirt cheap. Like $50...if not what battery would you recommend I get? I would prefer to only get one of that's possible. Thank you for your input

So I've decided to sell my hdc3's....I have a chance to get two 15" Orion hcca's for $600 for the pair, in the right box do you think I can get just as loud or possibly louder than my two hdc3's?

I would pass at 300 each.
How come? Just curious .....what subs would you recommend? I want two, and I've got $600....I would like to be able to get just as loud if not louder than the hdc3's if that's possible

It's hard to beat the hdc3 for the money $279 in terms of spl. They are priced very well. If it were me I'd pick up two sundown X 12s from there yard sale. Or you could do a single 12" nsv3 from yard sale. There's a guy with one 12" nsv3 doing 151 db+ at like 35hz in a sedan civic trunk wall.

B you have it on AC you need to set it on DC voltage.. not the sinewave line thats AC.

the only way to tell if your getting a certian wattage is to measure voltage and amperage. its typicall a line with dots underneath it..
