am I ruining my sub?

Alright I have 1 jlw7 in a ported box and I recently informed that the box is tuned way to high (the guy said he was guessing around 50+) . After reading the sticky in the box forum it says that tuning above 45 is only for comp and daily listening could damage my sub. Should I turn the sub off through the HU untill I can have a better box built? I don't want the money I spent on the w7 to go to waste.

yes you can kill your sub if you play songs that have frequencies around 45ish and below too loud.

wow this is good to know.

By just turning Subwoofer Off from the HU am I stopping the freq's from damaging my sub or do I need to disconnect it completely?

if you turn your sub off from the hu, you wont hear the sub, and it will be pointless

can't you make some sort of adapter for the port that is removable and it changes the frequency output?

My box is tuned to 45hz and I have yet to damage it with a 20hz tone...

no heres an idea

seal it off and stick aero ports in there.

just be sure you have the right length for the tuning tho
