Alpine Type-X

Well I think I am going to get the Fi Q with the upgrades on it and the option to be optimized in a sealed box, but will that sub with all the upgrades be able to handle the 1500w ok?

I had 2 12" type X and I loved mine.. you can find them around here pretty cheap too! I also agree with some of the other guys, there are way better subs (not mainstream) that can get the job done for about the same money or a bit more! you cant go wrong with either of those 3 choices though..I had my X's in a ported box though..

I wouldn't throw more than 1250rms at it constantly even with the additional options.

2 reasons:

1-Warranty doesn't cover frying coils, and replacing/reconing is expensive and tedious.

2-the audible difference between 1250 and 1500 is practically nonexistent to the human ear.

So set the amp's gain accordingly and you'll be just fine. Plus less current draw at 1250 so car will be happier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

LOL, Fi is practically mainstream on the interwebz.

I've heard a couple of their subs and they're very impressive and you don't hear much bad about them. Type X is pretty ballsy for a mainstream brand but nothing amazing. If you were looking at one on the cheap used I'd say go for it, if you're buying new you'll get more bang for your buck out of the other options.

Yup Fi is a huge internet boner. And I agree with practically everything you said about the X being good if found for teh cheapz. So "thanks".

Also, I wouldn't throw 1500rms at the X either, at all, ever, never.

Fi Q > Type X if the prices are both for BNIB.

I am actually thinking for getting a pair of Type X. I am waiting to find out what the cost is on them (friend owns a local car audio shop) and I'll probably buy from him. I know there are better subs out there but I have the support from a local shop, and can get them really cheap. I'm hoping that the sound quality is good like my old round Kicker solobarics. I'll be powering them by a American Bass VFL-120.1. Just not sure if I'm going to run sealed or ported yet.

Haven't had a chance to throw 1.5k at an Icon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You could Google the two subs and see what pops up.

Both sound great @ rated. And an amp that gives 1.5k can be gain adjusted to give out less.

True, good point. I guess its better to have more than needed so the amp wont be running absolutly full power, which like someone mentioned easier on the electical system. Wonder if i should jsut get a stock one and run it at half power(750w)..
