Alpine Type-X

Sorry this is a probably a pretty noob question. I just got a rockford BD1500 amp. I have a lexus is and the trunk is pretty small, so I was going to get one 12 in a sealed box. All my friends said I should get a Type-x, they say its pretty much the best sub out there for what i would be using it for. Now this guy I work with who is pretty smart with car audio stuff said I should get an FI Q or and SSD Icon. So I looked those up and they look like cheap subs, just made out of paper and foam, like an old beefy rockford sub or something, so am I missing something here? And from what i read it looks like those are for ported boxes too? Sorry if i am being a retarded here but none of my friends ever heard of FI or SSD... HOw could they be better than a Type-X in a sealed box?

Type X are great subs as well....but FI and SSD are great products that just dont reach mainstream, they are however, on par with all the "big names" and very often, much better than the big names

Well I guess there is more to this than I had thought. But again are those other 2 subs more for a ported enclosure? I mean which one is going to give the best results in sealed?

The Q is a much better sub than the X. If you were to look at one in person in comparison to a X you would see how much louder it is :p

Looks like the Fi Q has an option that makes it really optimized for a sealed enclosure... These are looking pretty tempting, I have read ALOT about these in just a few hours, I can believe I never heard of them. And it would be cool to have something not so mainstream like the Alpine. I might give it a go.

Haven't heard hardly anything bad about them.

the x has a very nice motor just not so good softparts. they can all be reconed easy. i would stay away from the x with the amp you have if you get crazy with the vol knob it can blow that sub.
