I got rid of my 15" Avalanche (Box was too big and its amp blew out).

I'm lookin at pickin up two 10's to save trunk space.

My amp I'll use to pwoer them is an Orion 5004.

It is:

75x4 @ 4 ohm

125x4 @ 2 ohm

250 x 2 @ 4 ohm

I'm gonna bridge it so it produces the bolded power.

Would two 10 Alpine S's do the trick or should I spend the money and get Type R's?

I know the Type S has a higher sensitivity (so lower amount of power required to reach max level) but a lower Xmax (not moving as much air).

The Type R has a lower sensitivity (more power to get moving) but a higher Xmax (more air).

They'd be getting 250w each. Type S has 300w RMS rating, Type R is 500 i believe. Would it be better to push the Type S's close to full excursion or the Type R's halfway?

I honestly think that they would both perform the same given the power...

get the TypeR....... you can always upgrade the amp later on
I don't plan on upgrading the amp later on. I've spent over $2000 the last couple years on stuff for my car. I just want something reliable that sounds great and will last until my car dies:fro:

if you keep it @ its rms, the typeS will be fine in a ported enclosure tuned to 33hz
Is there anywhere I can pick up a pre fab ported box built for the Type S or Type R?

I don't wanna go thru the trouble of designing and building a box. Call me lazy, but I just want to put something together quickly and nicely.

I have a type S 12" in a 3.0cuft sealed box, and it sounds awesome. I purposely made the box "too big" to get low end extension and man does it RUMBLE, sounds great doing it. and yes im only running 250w into it...
